The Sandman Checks In

It has been a long long time since I last wrote an entry, so should probably update you on a few things and bring you up to speed.

Arcturus won the Galactic Olympics, with Beetlegeuse coming a close second. While visiting the museum of a crime writer I found a single printed page on the floor which was the last page to a murder mystery (I guess as it had a detective announcing who the murder was). Anyway as it was casually lying on the floor it much have been a bit of scrap paper, so I chucked it on the fire. I believe the book was called "Lady Don't Fall Backwards".

Work has been fairly steady with more than a few numbers of staff dramas, making it feeling like I am back in Secondary school.

My recent trips to the Cinema had me watching "Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania", "Shazam! Fury of the Gods", and "Dungeons & Dragons." The best of these was Shazam! which was similar in plot line to "Thor: Love & Thurder" but with the balance between tone done correctly and the plot more focused... and the unforgettable sight of Wonder Woman with Dreds and a Beard.

Blu-Ray wise I bought "Doctor Who: The Complete Season 9", and after watching the Googlebox inspired "Behind the Sofa" feature with Peter Davison and Janet Fielding, I strongly hope those two misery guts are never invited back. There's constructive criticism... and then there is being Janet Fielding. Also I have filled out my film collection further with a couple of Wes Anderson movies (The Fantastic Mr Fox, and The French Dispatch), the Rob Zombie remake of "The Munsters," and the 1984 film version of er.... "1984" which stars John Hurt. Last year I purchased the BFI release of the 1954 Live BBC production which was scripted by Nigel Kneale and directed by Rudy Cartier. Now here is a very weird piece coincidence, in the BBC version Winston Smith is played by Peter Cushing. In the 1984 version he is played by John Hurt, and later in their careers both actors would play the Doctor in Doctor Who productions they were released in Cinemas.

In other news I have booked my USA trip, so roll on November when I will set foot in NYC for the first time and later return to the windy city.
