"Daehyun's got a secret admirer," whispers Youngjae to Jun Hong in the middle of class. "Can you believe that?"
"I...can't," Jun Hong answers carefully.
"The chocolates he gets are really expensive. He must be so lucky. And I saw what was written on that sticky note just now before you came."
"Really? What does it say?" Jun Hong asks. He is dying to know what Yongguk wrote.
"It says ‘Dear Jung Daehyun, I've always had a crush on you but I'm afraid to tell you. You look mean but you're really cute. Please accept my gifts so you'll know my true feelings for you’."
"Was it a girl's handwriting?"
"Obviously. With hearts drawn on the dots at the letter i. Isn't that sweet? I've always wanted a secret admirer."
"Shush!" Jongup shushes at Youngjae. "No one wants to know that."
"That's my move. Don't copy that."
"Guys, come on," Jun Hong begins.
"Yoo Youngjae! Moon Jongup! Choi Jun Hong! Is there anything the three of you would like to share?" their teacher calls out to them.
"Nope!" answers Youngjae. "Just trying to get Jongup here to keep quiet."
Jongup looks at Youngjae before looking back onto his textbook. Their teacher turns her back and continues writing on to the board and both Jun Hong and Youngjae go back to doing their work.
Once the bell rings, signalling lunch time, the students got up and left the classroom. Jun Hong takes a quick glance at Daehyun. Daehyun picks up the bouquet of roses and sniffs at it, breaking into a warm smile. Jun Hong quickly looks away and stands up, walking out of the classroom with Youngjae.
"I wonder what's for lunch," says Youngjae.
"You know what, I'm just gonna head over to the toilet for a while. I'll join you later, okay?" Jun Hong tells Youngjae.
"Okay. You want anything I can get for you?"
"Anything that you're eating," answers Jun Hong before running off.
Jun Hong runs down the staircase - carefully so he won't end up like Himchan. He runs towards the music room, assuming that Yongguk will be there.
He peeks at the window on the door and sees Yongguk sitting down with his back facing Jun Hong. Yongguk is looking down at a piece of paper and he is tapping his feet. Jun Hong knocks onto the door before stepping into the room.
"Yongguk! Yongguk!" Jun Hong calls. "Your plan works! It works!"
Yongguk turns around and grins, "Told you it will work."
"I've never seen him smile. And he looks really distracted in class. He doesn't seem to be paying any attention to me!"
"Hah! Told you so."
"Youngjae, and the other students, saw what was written on the sticky note. Youngjae says it's written by a girl. How did you that?"
Yongguk shrugs his shoulders.
"And the chocolates," Jun Hong continues, "it's expensive."
"It's nothing. I got it for free, anyway."
"Wait, what? Free? Did you steal it?!"
"I didn't say that," Yongguk answers immediately.
"But how did you get it?"
"Let's just say the florist seems to find me a really charming guy. I got her to buy the chocolates for me and help me write the letter. Said it was for my sister who has a big crush on a guy but she is nervous about it."
"Should I really call you a genius?" Jun Hong laughs.
Yongguk chuckles before something crosses his mind. "Hey, isn't it lunch time?" Yongguk asks.
"Yeah."
"Shoot! Daehyun will come looking for me if I didn't come to class!"
"What? No!" Jun Hong panics. "Oh, where am I going to hide?"
Yongguk looks around the music room. His attention is at the cupboard where music books are usually kept. He runs towards the cupboard and opens it, the top shelves are filled but the bottom had a few music scripts but had a lot of space. Yongguk turns around and grabs Jun Hong.
He says, "You're tall but you're really thin. You can fit in there."
Jun Hong gulps but immediately goes into the cupboard. Although it seems a bit cramped, he had no choice when he hears someone calling Yongguk's name from outside the music room. Yongguk closes the door Jun Hong hears him walk away and the sound of the door being knocked on.
"Oh, Daehyun," said Yongguk. "You know I was here?"
Daehyun answers, "You're always here."
Jun Hong feels happy somehow, able to hear the whole conversation. He also can take a small peek at Daehyun and Yongguk.
Yongguk asks nonchalantly, "What's with the flowers and chocolates?"
Daehyun chuckles, "A secret admirer, can you believe it?" His voice had a happy and cheerful tone. Jun Hong smiles, this is too good to be true.
"And you like it?" Yongguk asks.
"Of course I like it. I never get secret admirers."
"I thought some girls already confessed."
"Yeah but they revealed who they are. And their letters seem frightening enough to scare me. You should see the language. I find this anonymous more...interesting."
"Interesting, eh? Interesting," Yongguk emphasizing indirectly to Jun Hong.
"I wonder who it is."
"Ah, this is so not like you! You're smiling cheek to cheek!"
"Who wouldn't smile at this? It's sweet."
"You're giving me the goosebumps."
"If you know anything about who she is, you should tell me, you know."
There is a long pause before Yongguk answers, "Yeah! Of course! I will."
"Guess I'll be off."
Jun Hong hears heavy footsteps and then the sound of the door opening and the thud. A few seconds later, Yongguk sighs (and really loudly) before walking towards the cupboard and opening it.
"Oh wow. He seems really excited!" says Jun Hong, after Yongguk helps to pull him out from the cramped cupboard.
Jun Hong stretches his arms but he has never been in such a cheerful mood. He can’t wait to carry out this plan on his own now. Yongguk nods before walking back to his chair.
“Guess I’ll have to spare a bit of money. Or I can just write more anonymous letters for the time being,” says Jun Hong. “I should practice writing poems too!”
“If you’re looking for greasy, cheesy poems, you can always ask Himchan,” answers Yongguk.
“I’ve never been so excited to do this!”
“Just a warning, you might want to watch your back too. With Daehyun getting such gifts, there’s gotta be some nosy kids, especially some girls who are secretly crazy for Daehyun, wanting to find out who sent those gifts,” Yongguk tells Jun Hong.
“I will do my best,” Jun Hong replies and gives a salute to Yongguk before leaving the music room.

“Why are you smiling?” asks Youngjae, staring weirdly at Jun Hong since the moment that young boy sits down beside him at their lunch table.
“What? Psh. Am not!” Jun Hong denies but he is indeed smiling.
Youngjae frowns, “Today’s just weird. First, Daehyun’s got a secret admirer, and I don’t, and now, you’re smiling for no reason.”
Jun Hong laughs at Youngjae but soon stops when he hears someone calling. He turns around and sees Himchan walking towards him. Jun Hong gets up from the table while Youngjae enjoys his lunch. Himchan asks Jun Hong, “Have you gotten the money for the damages?”
“Yeah,” Jun Hong lazily takes out his wallet and gives the money to Himchan. It’s unfair, he thinks, that he has to pay when Daehyun is the one that causes the damages. But knowing he has a plan to get back at Daehyun, there’s nothing else to complain about.
Himchan calculates the money and nods at Jun Hong before saying, “Hope it won’t happen again.”
Jun Hong sighs.
Himchan looks at Jun Hong before his attention changes to something behind the young boy. Himchan gasps before breaking into a smile and moving as if to get a clearer view of something. Jun Hong furrows his eyebrows and turns around to see what Himchan is looking at.
Behind Jun Hong are rows of tables, filled with students sitting down, eating their lunches and talking to their friends. Further behind is the cafeteria counter with students still lining up for their food. At the very end of the line, there is Yongguk, who just came into the cafeteria. His face looks bored and sleepy and has both of his hands in the pockets of his school trousers.
“He came,” Himchan says to himself but strangely says as if he is glad instead of angry - because Himchan does not tolerate students who come to school but never came to class.
Jun Hong strangely stares at Himchan. He asks, “Who? Yongguk?”
Himchan snaps back and looks at Jun Hong with a surprised expression. He clears his throat and says, “He is gonna get it! For missing class!”
Himchan storms away towards Yongguk’s direction. Jun Hong is surprised to see Himchan skips gleefully for a bit before walking normally. Jun Hong shrugs his shoulders before going back to sit with Youngjae.
