Chapter 1

He had always wanted to attend Jisung Academy, a school for the talented which offers singing, acting and dancing classes. Top scoring students have graduated from that school and so does some celebrities. Who wouldn’t dream of entering such school where well-known people have graduated from?

Choi Jun Hong, a tall, cute boy has finally got his wish come true; to attend Jisung Academy. His transfer request got accepted and he has never been so happy in his entire life. The boy could sing and dance. He had always felt that this school is he one true calling.

Upon receiving his letter of acceptance, Jun Hong runs out of his house with his skateboard and makes his way to the school. The cold wind brushes against his face as he skates. It is like he is in a movie or something, he felt it that way. Reaching his destination, he gets off his board and stands in front of the gates of Jisung Academy. It is the weekend so no one is in school at all. The gates are locked so he couldn’t enter the school as and when he wants to.

The school is big just as expected. Jun Hong has read a lot about Jisung Academy and that the school has an indoor swimming pool, a performing theatre, many dance practice rooms and much more. The young boy imagines himself wearing the school’s blue blazer, walking in the school corridors heading to class and everything in the school.

He is so excited that he could not wait for two days until the school week starts. He says to himself, “I’m gonna do my best, whatever it takes for me to become one of the notable alumni upon graduation.”

He stands in front of the school gates for about fifteen minutes until he finally realizes that he was beginning to freeze in the cold wind. He quickly starts getting onto his skateboard and makes his way around the busy city. Shops are still in business and it is just full of activity. Jun Hong likes the city life, despite the chaotic period with all the crowded people walking on the streets.

Jun Hong takes out his iPod and starts playing his favourite songs, listening through his headphones. He is enjoying his free time, feeling so carefree. He listens to the rap of his favourite songs and he could memorize every single line with no problem. This boy is just talented.

A few minutes later, his iPod starts to lose its battery. Jun Hong takes it out of his pocket, still skating on his board. He looks down on his iPod and starts talking to it, as if begging not to lose its power. Jun Hong is not paying attention where he is going until he suddenly bumps into someone.

“Watch it, punk!” scolds the guy after he and Jun Hong fell onto the ground.

“I’m sorry!” Jun Hong apologizes.

The guy stood up from the ground and looks down on Jun Hong. Jun Hong almost yelps looking at him. He looks young and is absolutely handsome. He looks fierce; with that piercing stare he is giving Jun Hong. He is wearing a slightly tattered denim jacket and he has that bad boy style.

“I’m sorry,” Jun Hong repeats.

The guy does not respond but continues to glare at Jun Hong. The young boy suddenly felt helpless. He hopes that probably some random stranger will come and rescue him but no one seems to be paying any attention, despite the busy streets that is getting crowded by the minute.

“You think sorry is gonna let you off, huh?” the guy asks abruptly. “You think you’re gonna get away with it?”

“I didn’t mean to bump into you!” answers the scared boy.

The scary-looking guy slowly walks towards Jun Hong, ready to give him a fist but he stops halfway, hearing someone calling his name. “Daehyun-ah! What are you doing?!”

The scary-looking guy, whose name happens to be Daehyun, rolls his eyes at Jun Hong and turns around, seeing a tall boy running towards him. He dresses up similar to Daehyun and when he starts talking, his voice is really deep.

“What are you doing?” asked the guy with the deep voice before turning to look at Jun Hong. “And who is this kid?”

Daehyun looks down at Jun Hong and answers his friend, “I don’t know him but he deserves a punch.”

“Eh? What did he do?”

“He bumped into me. My butt hurts, you know!”

“I said I was sorry!” Jun Hong shouts.

“Sorry is not gonna pay!”

“Yah, Daehyun-ah! Stop it already. He just bumps into you and says he was sorry,” says his friend.

Jun Hong barely knew the two of them but he is beginning to like the guy with the deep voice. He is taller than the guy named Daehyun and looks more muscular and tough and seems to be much more nicer than Daehyun.

“Aish. We got other things to do! This kid is not worth the time right now,” said the guy with the deep voice.

He pats Daehyun’s shoulder before beginning to walk away. Daehyun gives Jun Hong another glare before rolling his eyes and follows behind Jun Hong. The young boy sighs in relief, now that the two people are out of sight. He looks at his watch and seeing the time, it is almost dinner. He gets onto his skateboard and starts making his way back home.

~~~
The sound of the alarm clock rings loudly and it echoes around Jun Hong’s room. Jun Hong immediately sits upright on his bed and he smiles to himself.
The first day in Jisung Academy, he thinks to himself.
He hurriedly gets off his bed and runs into the bathroom, grabbing a quick shower and brushes his teeth. After freshening himself up, he dashes back into his room and dresses up in his new school uniform with a blue blazer. He looks at the mirror and starts combing his curly hair. He has to look his best on his first day, doesn’t he?
“You look really handsome today,” he says in front of the mirror, giving winks too.
He takes his backpack and checks that has everything he needs, including his acceptance letter that needs to be shown to the receptionist at the school front office. He carries his bag out of his room and heads towards the dining room, where his parents are busy eating their breakfast.
“Excited?” his mother asks her son.
“Yes, I am!” Jun Hong happily answers her.
He eats his breakfast and afterwards, he quickly put on his shoes and makes his way to school. He reaches Jisung Academy in fifteen minutes and he observes the students entering the school. He cannot believe he is one of them already. He proudly enters the school and heads towards the front office.
He gets his class schedules and then leaves the office. He is also given a map of the school, in case he gets lost of anything. He has to go to class 9A and looking at the map, he starts to get lost. The school is just big and even if he is early to school, he had no idea of his way around.
None of the students walking along the corridors offers him any help. Jun Hong feels a little shy asking for help and he didn’t want to look like an idiot somehow. He ends up walking towards the school cafeteria, where he could read the map given. He groans to himself.
“Need any help?” asks someone.
Jun Hong looks up and sees a boy with a relaxed and friendly expression. He smiles at Jun Hong before bowing in respect to greet. Jun Hong bows back at him. The boy smiles again before repeating his question.
“Er…I need help. I can’t find class 9A,” Jun Hong answers him.
“Ah! I’m from that class too! Yes, our class is expecting a new student,” replies the boy. “My name is Youngjae. Yoo Youngjae.”
“Choi Jun Hong,” he introduces himself to Youngjae.
“Follow me,” said Youngjae.
Youngjae starts leading the way to class and shows Jun Hong the staircases and closes to the class. Youngjae is a very nice person to help the poor boy and Jun Hong feels like he could be his good friend in Jisung Academy. They reach class and there are a lot of students already seated down, waiting for the bell to ring. Most of the students become excited after taking one look at Jun Hong.
“Omo, he is so cute!” “Oh my gosh! Our new classmate!” “Yeep!” squealed some of the girls.
“Come on, let him walk to his seat,” Youngjae tries to disperse the girls that are crowding around Jun Hong.
Jun Hong sits down on an empty seat, which just so happens to be beside Youngjae at the corner of the classroom. Some of the girls are still talking about Jun Hong and occasionally glancing at him, including waving at him. Jun Hong could only answer them with a smile.
“Wow. It’s only your first day and you have already attracted the girls in this class,” said Youngjae. “I’m impressed.”
Jun Hong grins. School has not even begun and he is already beginning to enjoy the life in Jisung Academy.
