Random things

Time for some random disjointed thoughts from Sandy.

Hi Mother Nature, it's Sandy. Would it be possible to get some rain here please? Thanks. The brown wilting grass in front of my house is not pretty. And also, I really don't want to have to start rationing water. I'd like being able to shower whenever I wanted. So could you just dump a few inches/feet here? Thanks.

Taste of Chicago is fun! I went about two weeks ago with some people from the Chicago office (we took a rather long "lunch"). We went on Tuesday during lunchtime. Nice and empty! Well, compared to the weekends that is, when you're shoulder to shoulder with lots of sweaty people. It was about 95 degrees that day, though. :( Let's just say I had no problem wasting 6 tickets on some Italian ice. Mmmmm.

Do some people not realize that during a conference call, we can hear everything that you're doing if you're not on mute? Including rather heavy breathing and blowing into the receiver? It's like Darth Vader just joined the call. ;)

I have finally watched anime! Lai was kind enough to lend me a ton of anime DVDs and so far, I've watched ... er, one. I promise I'll watch more, Mike. :) Anyways, it was Spirited Away and it was pretty good. ("HI, I'M JOHN LASSISTER AND I ... HI, I'M JOHN LASSITER. I AM ON RYU MOUNTAIN! AND I AM THE SON OF A TRIBAL KING! THEY ARE CHASING ME IN THE BLOODY FIELDS ... okay, getting off track). Spirited Away was actually really good, except for one line. You did it, Sen! You remembered my name! I AM the spirit of the Kazukho River! I am! Gag. And I probably forgot the name of the river, but oh well. I've also decided the baby in Spirited Away and I are kindred spirits. We're both spoiled rotten and not ashamed of it. ;) "I like Sen. She's my friend. If you don't let her go, I'll CRY." *poutpoutpoutpout*

I clearly am not in shape. A bunch of us went to go play Ultimate Frisbee yesterday afternoon outside in an empty field behind our main building. I watched the guys marking off a 100x50 feet field, which seemed small since we had a whole larger field to work with, and I naively asked "Gee. Isn't that kind of small?" Yeah, I got laughed at and got told that I wouldn't think it was small after running up and down it a few times. Oh man. I was so dead and wheezing after a few sprints up and down that field. At least everyone else was too. :D I've concluded that I can't catch a frisbee worth crap (I have to kind of trap it between my stomach and two flailing arms, as opposed to the guys leaping up into the air and catching it with one hand), but I'm a pretty good short passer. :)

Now, to go rest my aching ankles, which are still whining from Ultimate Frisbee.
