Spring term senior year. shiiiit. HA!

so I have to decide where I'm going to grad school next year for a masters in museum studies. I was accepted into George Washington University, NYU, and University of Washington. Honestly, I've pretty much already decided on University of Washington. They gave me a departmental tuition award, so I guess they really want me, which is encouraging. I wasn't sure anyone would want me--my reasons for getting this degree are a little atypical I think. My plan is to go on to get a PhD in Archaeology after, and apply what I've learned from museum studies to my practices in the field. This masters will also open up career doors down the road, especially since I don't really want to end up as a professor. Anyways, Washington seems to offer the best opportunity for me to pursue my archaeology interests while in the museology program. Cool. Also, it's in Seattle, which as it turns out seems to be a pretty neat city.

Definitley freaking out about logisitics, though. I'm real poor, and having my permanent address in Maine, my current location in Wisconsin, and my future destination in Washington state, getting around is going to be a big challenge this summer. I also just don't know where I'll end up this summer. My program doesn't start until september since they're on the quarter system too. I don't have any jobs lined up... agh.

Good news is that it seems some cool buddies are also interested in moving out to Seattle with me. The more the merrier! I'm really excited at the possibility of being in close proximity to, or even living with, friends from college. I'm not bothered by the distance seattle is from "home" becuase I'm not that close with my family. Friends, however, play a much more significant role in my life and act as a surrogate family--leaving them behind would be a hard and upsetting decision.
