Late, but not to lateXD
Something for goki, 'cause I don't have much time to talk with her now=__+
It wasn’t that the wolf didn’t like the city.
It was that it didn’t like the city so early in the morning, standing in the pouring rain outside of the house that smelled of other… being. That big, brown wolf that stood on two legs and dressed like human. In the red wolf’s mind it was kinda cheating on his part. Wolf should be wolf: four legs, tail, sharp teeth, fur, and growling. Clothes, standing on two legs and talking human language should NOT be included.
But there he was, human/wolf that lived among shinigami as one of them.
Red wolf didn’t really like him and made it obvious on few occasions. Human/wolf was not pack, therefore not to be trusted.
The kid was something different still.
“Why are we here again?” red wolf complained, unsuccessfully trying to shake water out of its’ pelt. It was hopeless, they were standing in the damn rain!
“Stop complaining,” grey wolf was as wet and cold, but much more calm about it. Weather wasn’t something that could be fought against so there was no point in getting angry at it. “You could stay home, you know?”
Red wolf looked away and growled something in low voice. It was hard to hear, but grey wolf knew it was about not trusting that big human/wolf anywhere around the packmates and making sure every one of them is safe.
“Is he coming?” red wolf changed topics. “Can’t you just send him a postcard, or somethi… hey!”
Grey wolf didn’t hear the end of it, because it was running to the people that - finally - appeared on the porch it was observing since dawn. One of them was a tall, broad-shouldered man dressed in black kimono and white overcoat. The other one was a small boy dressed in perfectly pressed school uniform. The man was helping him button up his coat and handed him an umbrella. It was really just a normal everyday scene of a parent sending his kid to school… if not for the small details. Like the fact that the man is really a wolf, and his son has a pair of wolf ears on the top his dark head. Also, both of them had tails.
Then they spotted the grey wolf running their way.
“You could be at least surprised,” red wolf thought catching up to its’ packmate.
Grey didn’t stop, it jumped on the porch and went straight to the kid. Little human laughed when could nose sniffed at his left ear. He threw his small arms around the neck of the animal and tangled his fingers in the wet fur.
Red wasn’t so enthusiastic, it sat by the stairs and didn’t move any further, even to escape from the rain. It was eying the man/wolf suspiciously and getting the same treatment back. Grey was friends with his son, but that didn’t mean that the hole pack had to be.
Even if the kid was kinda cute - his father was not. And his other father - weird things happened in this city, that was for sure! - was a traitor and especially NOT to be trusted.
It wasn’t that the kid was bad himself. He was a funny little thing, with those ears and tail - almost wolf, but not enough, not yet. Living among humans will surely make his instincts dull and repress his proud heritage. Such a shame.
“Are you done yet?” red growled. Rain wasn’t stopping and it was very annoying. “He knows, let’s go!”
Grey nuzzled the boy under his chin and playfully snapped at one of his ears. It looked at his companion with mischievous eyes and didn’t move.
“Damn it!” growled red wolf. It looked left, right, scratched its’ ear, and finally stood. “I’m doing it so we can go home!”
“Of course you do,” grey smiled and stepped aside.
Little boy looked at the red wolf coming closer to him in surprise. Usually this one was keeping distance whenever the grey came to play. It wasn’t very nice and didn’t like his dad. And dad didn’t like it.
He was a little wary, but grey wolf nuzzled his back as if trying to say “don’t be afraid.”
Red wolf stopped before the kid and sighed. Ah, hell, may as well be quick about it.
It leaned forward and lightly touched kid’s cheek with its’ nose.
“Happy Birthday, brat,” it growled out. Weird thing, boy looked almost as if he could understand it!
But that was ridiculous.
“Can we go now?” red one spoke to its’ companion.
Grey wolf nodded its’ head and nuzzled the kid one last time before it jumped from the porch and run after its’ packmate.
“It’s the last time I’m doing this!” complained the red wolf.
Kid smelled like shinigami, soap and cereal with milk. Not exactly wolfish mix.
But not really that bad also.
