I woke up this morning to my mother foisting a pink card in my direction. Valentines Day is not to be forgotten, or so it seems. She's still having trouble thinking of something to do (well, she said "something to get") with her boyfriend so I coached her for a few minutes on living sustainably, symbolism, and the things she could do with a little thought and a lot of blindness to bullshit.

Anyhow, hair unwashed and t-shirt wrinkled - I adopt you fine folks as my Valentines. Second to only you will be my record collection, because what's better than vinyl on Valentines? Hmmm??

Anonymous notes to the folks who really deserved something extra special today:
  1. My first and foremost, my own little Carmen Sandiago. Your honesty is invaluable to me. My first year of school would have been a bust without you. Our shared misfortune made for one crazy looking sink & one kickpant friendship. I love the things you bring out in me.
  2. Our friendship is ideal (or at least I think so). We’re goofy bastards and seldom talk about anything other than nonsense, but underneath that there’s a realness involving red balloons, Dr. E, and silly hats.
  3. These genes of ours are specifically formulated for rocking and rolling. It’s wonderful to be friends AND family at such a young age. If I had a twin I figure he’d be you. Words do not justify your greatness. I’m so, so, so glad that we’re obligated to grow up and old together.
  4. Wording our strange and ever-shifting friendship would just be a waste of time…so I’m going to skip all that. I think you know what’s up, but since it’s Valentines Day I will tell you this: the person you’ve become and the person I once knew you to be are two variations on one basic theme that I have always admired beyond measure; you were always going somewhere. You learned early that you have to do what’s right by you. While folks around you were trying to hold you down you stuck to it, and I always believed in you. We’ll probably lose touch someday, but you will remain a part of some of my favorite stories. I will always believe in you.
  5. My favorite internet palsy. I don’t know much about you, but everything I know so far is Fabulous McGoo with a side of hummus. It’s nice to find good people with good taste in unexpected fields. I think with a little less distance we could be great chums.
  6. You cashed me out in FYE once and you were really nice to me. You might not think so, or remember why…but you were. I wish I knew you better because you’re good friends with a lot of phenomenal folks (a couple of whom are on this list) and that speaks volumes to me. Plus, we’ve basically got the same resume. <3 Extra Happy Happy to you.
  7. Finally, the soldier. Time spent with you is time that passes quickly. You’re a grown person with the light of a child. You’re Christmas lights that are left up all year. U kive upo (and I’m not just fucking with you). <3

And so I can say more nice things about everyone....(stolen from myribsbroke):

1. Leave a comment with your name in it and I will write something about you.
2. I will then tell what song(s) remind me of you.
3. I'll tell you who you remind me of (celebrity or otherwise).
4. I'll try to find a single word that best describes you.

Oh, I almost forgot. I got these for you:
