V for Vendetta...SPOILER RAMBLINGS

!SPOILER ALERT!

Holy Crap.

And that, people, is my respose to that movie. Holy-freaking-crap.

So I went to see Hugo Weaving. Just because, hey, he's a good actor and all. And...wow. Like, I can't even really talk about it. It was just so...good. But not good in a good way--good in a whoa way. If I'm making any sense.

Yes, it was idealistic...in a cynical way. Yes, it had historical innaccuracies (wasn't Guy Fawkes techincally a set-up by Charles the Whatever-ith to raise his popularity? Like, oh look, someone attempted to kill me...poor me, now you HAVE to love me...?) Besides that...

Yes, the action was cool. Yes, the effects were good. Yes, it had political commentary coming out of the wazoo. Yeah, it had all that but still...it was one of those things where I was like "I can't believe they're showing this on SCREEN." Like, promoting terrorism? Encouraging anarchy?

And yet, I swear, it was great BECAUSE of that. Like, at the same time I couldn't believe they were making these points so dramatically, I was also falling for it. Like, "Yes! Rise up against a corrupt government! Anarchy lives!" While the sane side of my brain's going "Hey, Natalie Portman can actually sorta act! What's up with that?"

Not that I'm for anarchy. Anything but. But still--uber powerful messages/emotions in that movie. I can't really explain it better that that. Plus oh yeah, Hugo Weaving was amazing. Considering u never even see his facial emotions. Little creepy love part in which I was going "EWWWWWW He's like 50 ew ew ew ew!" but besides that, it was great. And I liked NP's character better as a 20 year old NON-prostitute.

So very very good, I highly recommend it. :)

(ironic note: as I type this the country song Have You Forgotten comes up on the radio. Irnoic, no?)
