Labor Day

Wowsers...These past couple of weeks have been both busy, and a blur at the same time. Last friday was the official end to my internship. It feels nice to finally have that out of the way, but it was sad leaving at the end of the day. For the past 3 1/2 months I've felt like I was an important employee. I was Tom's right-hand man. Now Mark is back and in a couple of days other student workers will be here as well. I'll only be working 4 1/2 hours with tom a week so I'll be pushed back to being just another student worker. I don't feel as 'in the loop' as I used to, even though that's probably all in my head.

Saturday I had a blast. Several of us went to South Haven for a couple hours. I only had my shirt off for about an hour, but it was long enough for me to get my whole back sunburned. I used this spray-on sunscreen, but the wind must have blown it off my back before it stuck because I definitely got burned. I've been liberally applying aloe to my back, which has definitely helped some. After South Haven we went back to kalamazoo and walked around the mall. We also went to Barnes & Noble, one of the best stores ever. If I had more time to read, and if I had more money to spend, I would have bought more than just the 2 books that I did. One is called, "The Contented Soul" and the other is called, "Every Man's Battle". They both look really good. They were both in the Christian Inspiration section. Surprisingly I found a ton of books in that section that sounded really good. I love fiction, but I find it so hard to find new books to read in the fiction section of Barnes & Noble because there are so many books to choose from and you can't usually tell anything about a fiction book by just looking at the title.

Yesterday was Freshmen Move-in Day...one of the most fun, as well as one of the longest, days of the year. I always enjoy being up at the Technology Tent handing out stuff to the freshies and saying hi. It's also nice to see in person several of the new freshmen that I've met on facebook, or through whatever means. I also saw my old pastor and his family. It was so good to see them!! Unfortunatley Tyler wasn't with them. Oh well, it was still very good to see and talk to them. I can't believe how much their kids have grown up and changed since I last saw them. I haven't touched base with Breanna yet, but I didn't really expect to with all every second of their schedules being planned for the freshmen for the next couple of days. Perhaps later today. I've already met a couple of new freshmen friends. One guy, Ben, and I talked for a couple of hours while we were at the Coffee House thing last night. He's a cool guy...and I think he's jealous of the 42 inch plasma that we have in our suite. hehehe

I just wish I didn't have to work 8 hours again today...I need sleep...
