Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? He's a skinny, malnourished teenager, and he's 5'9".
2. How old is he? Soon to be 20.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? Sort of... defensive. Shoulders slumped, hands in pockets, giving you all suspicious looks as he walks by.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? He's in terrible shape. On top of growing up dirt poor and without much food to go around, his improper casting of magic sucks out all his energy. He probably looks to others like he has some sort of illness. His diet of cigarettes and wine doesn't help much either.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? He's definitely tense. Paranoia will do that to you.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? He actually thinks he looks good. Granted, his clothing is usually as impeccable as possible (something difficult for him before arriving in Mayfield), and he always hs his hair combed neatly... but it never stays neat long.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Pale as hell with freckles!
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. A dark red, pretty thick despite his health, and straight. He keeps it combed back like your average 1940s guy.
9. What color are his eyes? Blue.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? He has very noticable dark circles around his eyes, thanks to his health/insomnia.
11. What are his chief tension centers? So many headaches.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? Dark suits. Again, 1940s.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? He loves his suits~
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? He does!
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? I can't imagine him in anything but boxers.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? I've always imagined it a bit deep, sort of offsetting his appearence. A bit raspy too.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? He speaks confidently, easily, most of the time. He has a short temper though, and yells a lot.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? Other than the fact that he curses a blue streak upon the slightest provocation, nothing really~
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? English, and he can read/speak a little Greek and Latin thanks to his study of magic.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Nope~
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? He's pretty quick-witted, he can speak on the spot.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? The only times he gets thrown off is when being complimented/praised, since he's gotten so little of it in his life, and usually he thinks people are lying when they do it anyway. But usually, he'll get uncomfortable and change the subject.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Definitely street smart. He's never been to school, and was taught everything he knows by his brother. From there, Theo studied a lot on his own, but it was almost exclusively magic. He was left on his own a lot, lived in a terrible section of the city, and worked in a factory from a young age, so he's good at getting by on his own.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He can think on his feet well, but does better when given time to formulate a plan.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Intuitive if only because he's so self-centered. :P Sometimes logic will be pushed aside for whatever HE wants.
4. What kind of education has the character had? see #1 above.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC. Is he obsessive? You bet your sweet as he is.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Introvert.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? Ambitious, easily angered, pessimistic and paranoid. What a bowl full of cherries he is.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Suspicious, and outright assumes everyone he meets is an idiot until they prove otherwise.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? React.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Fight. Like an angry pomeranian.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? He has an almost null sense of humor. XD But what he has is rather dark.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? Oh god so paranoid. SO PARANOID.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? Finding out he can cast magic, and the day he ran off on his mentor, stealing all his magical texts. That last part was sort of the beginning of the end for Theo.
14. What does he fear? Being ignored/forgotten. As much as he hates people, all he wants is for people to pay attention to him since he was ignored most of his life.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations? To be recognized as the great magician he is.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? see #14 above. He wants friends/attention but acts like he doesn't, blowing people off all the time or treating them like garbage. He wants to be close to people but is so paranoid at the same time. He's very conflicted. :\
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. They did the best they could raising two boys during the Great Depression, but since they were working all the time he didn't see them much. He resents them for it anyway. :\
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? He was very close with his older brother Greg, who always took care of him, but ended up running off on him as well to learn magic. He regrets doing it and misses his brother, but would never admit it.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? Nope~
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Unfortunately none. He has no friends back home. :(
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? n/a
6. Does he have other close friends? n/a
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? I think this is obvious by this point!
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? Neither. He'd say he doesn't need people.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Single~
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? n/a
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? Hahaha oh god he's never had one. And still doesn't.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? I have a hard time seeing him paired up with anyone. But he'd need someone who not only could put up with HIM, but he would only put up with another magican (or someone who appreciates it at least), and someone intelligent.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? n/a
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? His former mentor, Ed Grayson (AKA Doc G) and his cohort Hank Sullivan rank high on his list of people to murder viciously.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale? This is hard to say. At any point I think he could be a 0 or a 1 thanks to his sort of obsessive tendencies. D: But for the most part? Nothing.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? I'd be lying if I said he NEVER thought about it, but it's a rare thing even though he's a 19-year-old boy. But I think it's no surprise to say he's a virgin.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? n/a
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type? He's a Libra, and a Snake. He doesn't really fit either at all!
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? Athiest. All he needs is magic, thanks. 8|
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? He may be sliding quickly into sociopath territory, but he's not a psychopath. He killed people, sure, but never without reason or because it's "fun". There's a purpose to what he does, or so he believes.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? He thinks your religion is stupid. Yes, you.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? Everyone is stupid and useless until proven otherwise, race, religion and/or gender nonwithstanding.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? He's always been dirt poor. His family barely had a roof over their heads.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? He's really resentful towards the rich. Big time.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? He lived in a one-room apartment before he got to Mayfield. He's never lived in anything like what Mayfield has. And while he hates the suburban theme, deep down he really appreciates the luxury he has here.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? Magic texts and components. But usually those he traded/worked for.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? Back home, as a kid, he worked in a textile factory. Eventually he left to become an apprentise alchemist. In Mayfield, he's a librarian. He'd enhjoy it if their library wasn't so terrible.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? MAAAAGIC. But also, chess, wine, reading, and lately, he's taken an interest in cars and mechanics.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? He drinks so much wine, oh my god. He can cook a little since he was left to fend for himself a lot.
