A/N:
shatterededen mentioned writing a KH fic and such. Well, I never have before. I'm scared to death and paranoid xD So, I decided to write something for her, because I know she likes Roxas & Axel. So, here's a short drabble for when she chooses to read it xD
~*~
Physically, he was gone.
However, the thoughts and memories still lingered in Sora's mind and often would merge with his own; though, there were some that were undeniably belonging to Roxas, his other self. Although Roxas' life was short-lived, enough happened to make a lasting impression on the blond.
Since he made himself known to Sora, just before going into the darkness then finally returning to the Islands, he chose to converse with Sora. At first, it was strange for the both of them; they were one in the same. Yet, it seemed natural.
Often, Sora would wonder if Kairi did the same with Namine', her other half.
"You're still you," Riku had stated just after Sora finally knew that Roxas was in him - was him - and Namine' was in Kairi.
So, did that mean the thoughts that he had were his own? Though they were clearly Roxas', were they his too? What about the dreams?
The dreams that tore at his heart with the memory of how he felt when he first lost Kairi and Riku.
Red bright hair that defied gravity in its own way and emerald green eyes that would shine brightly and give away what he truly felt (easy to manipulate and play cards into his own field, but easily found out if one actually looked into his eyes) stood out in his mind.
They looked hollow, but they weren't. They didn't feel hollow. Deep inside of them lurked who he really was as a human, but they were only really seen when he was near (or talking about) Roxas; the only person (besides Sora, whom he found out too late) that made him feel like he had a heart.
The only person that helped him feel whole.
"I didn't think anyone would miss me, but he did. He actually tried to bring me back - to the Organization. With him." Roxas' words were distant and echoed in the empty room; Sora standing in front of him with an expression that clearly showed his sympathy. Not pity, no, but sympathy.
For someone on the outside, it might have sounded romantic; it could have been or it could have been family.
Roxas closed his eyes and when they opened, he was wearing black robes and standing in front of Axel; weapons out of sight and lips in a thin line.
"You came back, after all, huh?" Axel's tone was light-hearted; easily hiding that he wanted to tell the other how thankful he was to have him back.
Silence.
Before, there had been a distance or anger or frustration, but now Roxas knew. Now he knew from Sora's memories and from the time that he had to think about it - too much time.
"When I said that no one would miss me..." Roxas trailed off. His hands were clenched at his sides and he wasn't sure where he was going with his words. All he remembered was Axel had been the only one he liked and trusted in the Organization. The only one who got himself into trouble with the Organization and went out of his way to give Roxas back his memories and urge him to rejoin them.
"Aw, now don't start that!" Axel teased with a laugh as he brought one of his hands to run through his spiky, red hair. It wasn't sappy, but it was something.
Roxas' mouth moved, but no sound left him. The words were left unsaid, but the expression on Axel's face changed as their surroundings blurred and shifted until it was Sora standing in front of him once more; both in regular clothes.
The words may have not been heard, but the expression on Axel's face showed that he got the message loud and clear.
I miss you too.
