Who: Egypt [misriyun ] and England [prud_englaland]. When: Evening, March 1st. Where: Egypt's bachelor pad. What: Someone is going to have a smoking good time and it ain't gonna be Turkey. Rating: PG.
England was not the only one who was suffering from problems amongst memories. With each session, with each faux pas therapy session, he felt the days slipping away and the ability to remember clearly the events of the passing weeks in-between harder and harder to clarify even with everything written down. Those papers were stacked up high now and fill the desk. Everything was in his native hand yet even when he looked over the most recent dates, they all seemed to merge and float like patterns, something seemingly unfamiliar and it was in those moments he realized something horrible was happening to him and even with nations comforts whom he held dear, he still felt like this was a journey and a problem he should not be burdening his good friend with, nor the fledgling nation whom he felt fiercely protective of, even though it never shone through.
Yet, even though he remember that indeed the date of February 28th was an important date, he still felt like another birthday forgotten would not be unfortunate and the silence of this

England had been shifting from foot to foot, the sort of fighting he would never allow from one of his colonies, and the moment he realized it he forced himself to stop, standing still and straight. Luckily too it seemed he managed to reign in his nerves just as the door opened and England was brought face to face with Egypt, barefoot and looking rather relaxed were it not for the slight weariness that England recognized was likely evident in his own face as well.
England dropped his gaze momentarily, inclining his head forward in a gentle dip, before bringing his eyes back up again.
"Ah, Egypt, I-" He stumbled over his words and realized that perhaps he should have practiced this a little more. He drew in a breath.
"I just wanted to stop by and see who you were faring. Given the-the date recently passed I just wanted to-well, that is... I just wanted to see how you were doing. I understand the staff gives you cards on dates they decided must be our birthdays. I was just...I was just wondering if yesterday had been that

If Egypt would had been any other nation, he would have been inclined to smile at the others blathering nature. It was not uncommon but at times very unlikely that England could not compose himself before another, but Egypt was never really inclined to smile nor would the situation ever had allowed it fully. In different circumstances, under a different year and a different season, in a different location, perhaps, but Egypt did not smile for just anyone and at the moment, none of the factors added up correctly to make for a time to smile. Quietly, he made the choice not to think about the others words too much and spare himself the thought of detail

England, for a moment, was completely struck by what to do next. Egypt had listened to him and, while not replied which was fairly normal, had stepped back in a very clear non-verbal invitation in the room.
For a brief hysterical moment he imagined the other was only doing it in order to painfully slam the door in his face once he took the presumptuous step forward but he dismissed the suspicion as ridiculous soon enough.
Staring at Egypt with shock written over his features, remembering himself a moment later and dropping his eyes, he stepped forward, into Egypt's room, very different from his own.
"Ah, er...thank you," he said quietly, turning to Egypt once he had come into the room fully, at a loss as to what he should do next. It was hardly as if this was common occurrence.
He didn't care much to wait around for England's foundering nature when it came to walking through doors obviously. Instead, he stared at him silently and waited for him to make his move without a reaction on his face. If the nation wanted to be amongst his company, he would walk through the door and if the nation would not have moved when he did, he would have made the choice for him by either closing the door or leaving it open and simply walking away

England watched him carefully, trying his best to take his cues from what Egypt did. It was difficult however, he was hardly a mind reader nor had ever desired to be one, and Egypt was a veritable champion at having others only guess what his own desires were, the reasons for his decisions, whether he wanted your company or would sooner and far happier see you dead at the bottom of a snake pit

He enjoyed the taste. The shisha was a good flavor and this woman who claimed to be his mother obviously knew a great things about the brand and the pipe he was given, so ornately decorated and shaped. Admiring the hookah pipe silently as the nation now in his company did as he liked. Egypt believed in a silent freedom and if the nation wanted to be there, he was content to allow him to stay. Asides, in such a time when he was feeling the way he was, and lacking the emotion he was and the memory, sometimes in company he felt safer. Taking another inhalation from the pipe, bringing the thick smoke into his lungs before pulling the pipe away and exhaling, the smoke filtering past his lips as he watched England sit down amongst the setup he had prepared since his arrival

England blinked before reaching out after a beat and taking the pipe in hand, flipping the mouth piece over and bringing it tentatively to his mouth with a quietly murmured thank you. He had used one of these things before of course, he knew their function and their popularity in places like Egypt. However, he had not done it terribly often and so he felt more than a little uncomfortable sharing in the activity now with a nation whom had been such a strong representative to him of the exotic other during the period of his occupation

If there was awe, then Egypt knew nothing of it. His feelings towards England shifted dramatically after he was pried forcefully from the Ottoman Empire, watching Turkey practically lose himself in his diminishing empire while he was being forced under the protection of England who raised his flag and claimed to God he would bring Egypt his complete sovereignty which to this very day, minute, hour he still was lacking. The canal was part of his home and if England thought he was going to keep control over something that was rightfully his, then he was making a mistake. God save his once son the United States and his efforts in Panama. Clearly, obviously, the island was providing a bad influence to those abroad involving land and canals and freedom, offers they claimed to bestow but failed to completely submit

The silence really was killing him but he tried to relax, let his body lose the rigidity that was really more of a habit than it was a consequence of their current predicament. The smoke was soothing enough, the heady sweetness of it's scent making his head foggy and he thought that he really must be out of practice if Egypt's rather tame narcotics was having this sort of effect on him already

It was strange to hear the Englishman mention the Turk as they seemed to so vehemently oppose each other when it came to his regard. Certainly, England's words threw him off, so he covered the silence still by taking another inhale from the pipe, wrapping his lips around the metal tip and filling his lungs with the cool sensation of the smoke which followed. A breath, and pulling the pipe away, he exhaled and let the cloud escape his lungs to join it's brother amongst the aid to were they body faded slowly in a twist amongst the ventilated air that spilled from the small vents
