Nikola stood at a large chalkboard, glass of wine in one hand and other hand on his hip. He turned slowly to face her. "What can I do for you, Miss Magnus?" he asked coolly.

Ashley crossed her arms. "Ghoul in Louisiana." She nodded at the wine glass. "Mom says if you want to keep drinking her wine and using her lab and equipment, you have to help bag and tag."

Nikola gave a long suffering sigh. "Are there enough of Helen's little underlings to do the drudge work?" he complained.

"We are the underlings." She said, not entirely happy about the situation either. hopefully there wouldnt be much in the way of drudge work.

Nikola huffed. He didn't like being refereed to as an 'underling'. He crossed his arm. "What exactly is this 'ghoul' we're tracking down?" he questioned petulantly.

"Don't know," she said. "But it's been eating pets and causing property damage. Contacts in the area have some blurry pictures. It's super creepy looking."

"Wouldn't that be more a job for the local animal control?" he counter as he moved to cork his wine bottle and swallowed the last in his glass.

Ashley pulled put her phone and brought up an email with an attached picture. She held it up for Tesla to see. "Does this look like it should be handled by animal control?"

Nikola looked over the image, eyebrow raised. "Well, that's--unique."

"That's one word for it," she said, stowing the phone.

"So, what are we expected to do?" he asked her.

"Mom said we should find out what it is, and relocate it if we can and neutralize it if we can't. She didn't think it was intelligent."

Nikola nodded. He knew he wasn't getting out of this and so the best way to do it was to get it done as quickly as possible. "When do we leave?" he asked.

"Mom put us on a red-eye tonight," Ashley said, pulling a face. "So get packed, I guess."

"Lovely," he said caustically. "Dare I hope first class?"

Ashley gave him a look. "This is mom, remember? We're lucky we got business. The hotel however is pretty decent." Ashley had reminded her that Tesla was going and would likely be far more amenable to helping if they had posh accommodations.
