College orientation today, Christ it was so boring... might've had something to do with the fact that I didn't end up going to sleep last night, meaning I have now succeeded in going 26 1/2 hours with no sleep at all... :P Heh, "succeeded"... as if I want it to be that way. XD
And, has anyone else who's started college realized just how much those fuckin' textbooks cost?! My Intermediate Algebra book was $109.95! What the hell?! And, I hate math! I don't wanna even do the work, let alone pay over a hundred bucks for a book about the subject! O_O And my cheapest textbook, Sociology, was $70.00... Grrrrr...
Anyways, I guess it wasn't all bad, some of the kids there seem pretty cool. Also, I bought a shitload of used CDs at FYE afterwards, so that made up a bit for the general lack of fun associated with orientation... the best ones being a two-disc spoken word CD by Jello Biafra, and a two-disc George Carlin (!) set... I also got a "guilty pleasure" CD, the movie soundtrack to "Bulworth". I remember seeing it back when I was 12 or so and thinking it was awesome, so I was obligated to pick it up, and am listening to it now. Ahh, sweet memories. :D
Also, SERIOUSLY cool news... Paul and I may be going to the Choking Victim reunion show on Sept. 11th in Tompson Square Park, NYC. Man, that would kick SO much ass, like you wouldn't believe... Team Spider is guest-hosting, which means it'll be a good show, for sure. And maybe there won't be a riot this time, like last year's Cracktoberfest. :P Not that I got to go, anyway... *envies Ilse & Co.*
