part 2 of my essay. SORRY. if you read all this you have the patience of a saint. sancta_terra March 13 2010, 20:11:50 UTC
this is because Daniel finds out that Zoe made a virtual copy of herself (we don't yet quite know why!) that still exists, and this copy is more than your average avatar as it felt what happened to Zoe. Lacy's the only one who knows at first, and Daniel finds out and that's one of the starting points when Daniel tells Joseph this horrible idea - what if they could have their daughters back. Joseph's actually from Tauron, which is a bit of a hardcore gangster/mafia type place at times so that brings in that bit of influence there too. that's about the first bit of the pilot hah, it's pretty long but it's a good set-up to the utter awesome that comes after.

TL;DR it doesn't quite have a general identity, it's many awesome things rolled into one, and I wish it was simpler to explain. if you think you might like it you should give it a go but I wouldn't judge on the pilot alone as that's okay whereas the season itself has just been gripping.

have you some youtube:

& this trailer was one they showed in January after airing the pilot, which has scenes from stuff not in the pilot

haha. yeah. whoops. I didn't even realise how much of an essay it was until it told me I was massively over the character limit, and that was before I put videos at the end D:

oh, you don't need to. literally it's just the one character and the setting and the AI concept that's the same, but the storytelling is similar which is always a good thing as BSG has some of the best storytelling and hearbreaking plot I've ever seen on tv. there's little tidbits that a BSG fan would pick up on - like, the dog is the same breed as the resistance dog in season 3 of BSG - but they're just that and not exactly plot essential!

actually not even the setting, it's the same setting as about the first half hour of the first episode of BSG. it's so minimal haha.
