So I am still training.

But I am having fun. The vampirosare tough sometimes, but I am getting better at fighting them. They are fast, though. Very fast. I think I like better when I was with Derek; he would hunt at daytime, when they were sleepy.

When they are awake, it is very hard to keep up with them.

My teacher, he is a good man, but always grumpy. He does not smile at all. He has a very big scar across his chest, and one eye all is all torn up. It is from when he first met vampiros, he says.

He never told me why they did not bite him.

I have learned a lot, though. I can shoot Ms. Piggy really good now. And the six-shooter my teacher gave me. And I am better at throwing the spears. I sneak better than my teacher though, thanks to Jinpei.

I think that makes my teacher angry.

I went back to Abeulo's house earlier this week. He was a holy man, and he had a lot of things. I took some of them. Maybe I will learn something like what he did. There are not enough holy men now; not after the Vatican took all the hunters away. They've stopped killing hunters that are not theirs, but their own hunters are even even worse ajos now. They will hold up and steal from other hunters.

There was even one time the church hunters shot all the not-church hunters. This was in Nogales a month ago.

A lot of the churches in Mexico will not talk to the Vatican anymore. I do not know what will happen there.

Sometimes, people from America come looking for Derek. But we don't know where he is, so we can tell them nothing. They are scary people--all in black, sunglasses, no smiles. Sometimes in suits. More often in working clothes. They have destroyed my teachers equipment twice now, and wrecked his house looking for Derek.

I do not think I want their attention anymore.

Tonight, we hunt. My teacher will let me go first.

I think I wish we were hunting right now, when there is sun.
