i need another band to be in.  the one i have right now is getting lame.  drew just quit....scratch that, drew's WIFE made him quit so he could spend more time on her....and nobody has made an effort to try to find a replacement.  we had a practice on friday to work on new songs, and they all suck.  they're slow, boring, uninspired and completely dumbed down.  it's not selfish songwriting....whereas i play the same beat for 5 minutes behind a guitar orgy....even the guitar and bass parts are mundane.  some of the songs are so slow that i could cook a fucking steak between snare hits.  I HATE SLOW MUSIC!!! i always have.  all the aggression and urgency we used to write with is completely out the window....plus we're playing a style that i don't even listen to.  i tried explaining it to brady nicely....

"i really don't have any CD's that sound like this..."
"well that's because nobody writes like this."

but that's not true at all.  we aren't breaking any new ground.  we're playing a type of music that's 100% production-based.  it won't sound good unless it's recorded the right way.  i want to be able to sit down, plug in, start playing and like what i hear....or at least have a good feeling about what the finished product will sound like.  none of that is happening right now.  i have always been open to playing any style of music as long as i can keep challenging myself.  there is nothing challenging about anything we're doing.  i've been playing drums for too long to be content with my new role in this band.  brady is far too talented of a songwriter/musician to be coming up with this kinda stuff.  for the last 7 years we've been writing songs together that were fast and aggressive but still catchy and listenable.  that's our niche....i don't think it's me who's lost a step.

moderately badass drummer for hire.  seeyall @ okie dogs.
