Yes, I have finally finished another western and have just signed the contract for publication.
Darrow's Gamble has been in the works for quite a while now. I had the basic idea about four years ago and actually wrote a couple of other westerns before seriously tackling the Darrow one. I wrote the first half or so last year, then stalled badly on it. I got back to it this summer, rewrote some of the early part and got on and finally finished it.
I'm pleased with the way it turned out - and relieved to have got it done at last. The story brings back the characters Tomcat Billy and Irish, who were arrested by Darrow at the end of Darrow's Badge - the previous novel in the series. I like Tomcat and Irish and wanted to write about them again, so I had to get them out of jail and pardoned, as I didn't want to write about their careers as outlaws. Now they've earned their freedom in Darrow's Gamble, I can feature them in books of their own.
Now I have to get on with writing my Blakes 7 story, Triggerpoint, featuring Avon, who was played by a certain Paul Darrow, who always wanted to be in a western.
