Kirk's Suprise
"Tell me this is not really happening?" McCoy looked as if he had been struck by a light bulb in his left eye.
"Apparently it is." Kirk sat on the tip of a chair, and had his arms crossed to his chest.
"Don't you think it's a little soon?" McCoy's voice had a high-pitched tone as he said that.
"Very. But who can deny love, right?" McCoy wasn't sure if Kirk was joking or not.
"This is not a joke, Jim. Relationships on board a ship are not to be encouraged." He had taken the plunge and assumed Kirk was joking, as it was Kirk after all.
"I'm deadly serious. It seems those two have been hit hard. With love," Kirk added as he saw McCoy's eyes narrow. "By the way, do you think I set those two up or something?" Kirk stood up and slowly walked towards McCoy with his arms dangling besides him.
"You might have." McCoy straightened up to face his captain.
"You do know I was after Uhura right, not pushing her into Spock's arms?" Kirk looked at McCoy with disbelief. How could she have chosen for Spock was beyond him.
"Hmm. Perhaps you drove her into his arms because of it." McCoy stepped aside as Kirk felt offended.
"You think my flirting drove her into the arms of an emotionless Vulcan? Is that what you're saying?" Kirk followed McCoy.
"Maybe. Plus, Spock doesn't seem so emotionless anymore, wouldn't you agree? I wouldn't classify this as a logical marriage." McCoy had a feeling he had the upper hand now. He seemed to be right as Kirk turned back to the table.
"Come. Uhura wants us to plan the wedding with her." Kirk spoke in an even deeper voice than usual, and McCoy could sense his annoyance with the situation.
"Now already? They just got engaged an hour ago!" McCoy was not happy with this new development.
"What can you do? A girl is engaged and wants a wedding. All you can do is say yes and nod in agreement." Kirk sounded slightly bitter.
"You can't have every girl you hit on, my friend." McCoy wasn't sure if this was fuel to the fire or a reassurance.
"I know that!" Kirk didn't look at him as he spoke, but signed McCoy to follow him. They had a wedding to plan. On his ship..
