Moving Help

Help request: finding movers! I'm going to look up various moving companies in San Diego; any recommendations or reviews?

We've got a small 1bd apartment in Mission Beach and are moving to a 900sq ft. house in 92102, so it's not a very lengthy distance nor do we have much stuff. However after doing so much work on said house over the past month... the thought of having to pack AND move all our crap is rather daunting, which is why I'm asking about movers.

Looked in the memories/tags, and I found MovePlus, AndyMoving and Starving Students, but they were from some time ago. The reviews I'm finding for Starving Students are completely horrific (*fear!!!*), and I can't get in touch with the other companies, so any additions for me to check with would be greatly appreciated.

---------------EDIT----------------

I think we've found a winner: MovePlus (move-plus.com)!
From the quote she gave me, $89/hr gets you at least 2 movers, wardrobe boxes, add 7% fuel charge. 5% if you put everything on your Visa or Mastercard. Plus they will break down/set up things that you need. Review pending, their number is 858.386.4155 for details.

---------------POST-MOVE REVIEW (July 30, 2009)----------------

BASICS: As eBay puts it, "A+++, would use again!" :) They were scheduled to show up between 8 & 9, and after general introductions/waiver-signing, it was 9 on the dot when we started. They didn't need to break down anything, but would've done so if I had asked.

CHARGES: There is $100 deposit towards the total (that needs to go on a credit card), a 3-hour minimum (at $89/hour), a 7% fuel charge (came to less than $20 for me), and if you decide to put it all on a credit card there is a 5% charge. I think if you need a whole bunch of extra packing material they will charge for that but that didn't apply to my situation. If you only have a ten minute drive, they double it, so I think there's a 20 minute minimum. That was fine since my new house was about 20 minutes away. They may charge more if you need more than two movers. Total charge came to just under $300.

THE GUYS: Daniel & Alex communicated a lot with me while we were getting things done, and they were also cat-friendly as well - I own a cat and he was freaking out towards the end. :) The guys were friendly, professional, FAST, helpful, and there was no language barrier.

GOOD THINGS: They brought a bunch of wardrobe boxes that I was able to just hang our clothes on (VERY helpful), as well as padding that we used with some of the furniture (desks/shelves/etc) and artwork. The fragile stuff they paid attention to and didn't just toss it around.

OVERALL: They were attentive to my belongings and directions, and offered advice when it seemed to be too overwhelming. I'm pretty laid back (which always seems to help), but I feel like if you're someone who needs to give a lot of directions and is really picky, these guys will still work for you. My fiance was at the destination where they'd be unloading (I had to leave for work), but he had no complaints either when he called me after they left, and the whole thing took exactly three hours.

FINAL REVIEW: These guys were a total win, and despite my current exhaustion, I am very happy. Thumbs up!
