big bear?

if i asked the locals, they wouldn't know where to stay because they live there.

i want to find a cheap place to stay.. motels are fine that are near another mtn, snow summit or big bear.. at least decent enough to walk there.. blah blah blah.. whatever, whatever is close by for a weekend.

i have no clue where to look, how to narrow down my selections, the websites are too vague.. and the maps doesn't seem to help find the hotels/motels... help anyone?
