Barbaro can walk again! with the help of a fused ankle, 23 pins and a steel plate - he was almost jogging back to his stall for supper. i am so proud of his owners (who happened to have a million dollar mortality policy on the colt), let him be taken to the New Bolten Clinic in PA for the surgery. even though he doesn't have a future as a race horse anymore, he may have a future as a stud. he was amazing in the derby and it would have been a shame to lose such a beautiful creature to such a cruel death as lethal injection right there on the track. his rider edgar prado is credited with his quick stop and this is what could have possible been the difference between the injuries he received and ones that could have been much much worse. my best to michael, the owner, mr. prado and all that have had anything to do with such a talented animal. cheers barbaro!
