Can I just say how incredibly proud I am to be a member of PBC Productions today. It was our shining hour, really. We pulled together like never before and really had an outstanding day. It was a monumental task. We had secured a school in Astoria for our location for a whole 8 hours, something we had never been able to do before. We had an entire episode to film in the school, as well as chunks from 2 other episodes. A total of 13 pages and 69 shots, and we were dealing with all 7 of our principal cast members and about 15 extras. So we prepped like crazy. All week we had meeting after meeting talking about this day. Creating storyboards and shotlists and it ultimately culminated in our first call sheet. We decided how to do lunch for everyone and went out and bought a shit ton of food. We wrote down every costume and prop we would need for every shot. Last night I called every single one of our extras to make sure they knew about their call time and to find out if there were any problems or concerns. We all slept over at Chad and Z's this morning so we could be up at 7 am to start packing the car and taking trips to the school.
We hired a friend of Chad's on as a PA for the day, and it was a godsend. He was the biggest help we possibly could have asked for. He wrangled extras, made sure they were kept up to date, moved them around when we changed the location for holding, set up the craft table and lunch, helped frame shots, kept people quiet on set, etc., etc. He did the job of about 5 PAs, and we were all impressed beyond belief.
In the end, we didn't get to every shot, but it didn't matter. There wasn't a thing we could have done differently today to have gotten through all 69 shots, so it turned out to be literally impossible. But, we proved that we are responsible, professional, and ready to do this for real. And it showed in the footage. We watched when we got home, and we were practically giddy. It looked better than we could have hoped, and we're so excited for the last 2 episodes it's unreal.
We had our first interview last night with Chris from seganerds.com. They just started doing a podcast, and he and the crew there really dig the show, so they contacted us about doing an interview. So last night, via skype, we talked to him for 20 minutes about the show and ourselves. It was a really great time, and he wants to bring us back to possibly even guest host one of his podcasts, so we're pretty excited.
And I'm pretty exhausted.
