Hello, all!
This is my first post, although I've been a member for a while. Been a fan of the samurai since, oh, 2002.
There's two reasons for my posting now. First is to share an announcement I just saw that Cartoon Network has a deal with Mighty Fine to make and sell "classic" CN character T-shirts, including Our Hero.
CNE, Mighty Fine to Introduce Classic Tees at Hot TopicA young men's and juniors' T-shirt range featuring classic Cartoon Network characters will debut this spring at Hot Topic, and later at other specialty and mid-tier retailers.
The tees will include classic characters from six series, including "Johnny Bravo," "Courage the Cowardly Dog," "Dexter's Laboratory," "Cow and Chicken," "Samurai Jack" and "Ed, Edd & Eddy." The two-year deal includes men's and juniors' T-shirts, knit tops and fleece.
I'm kinda old to be shopping at Hot Topic, but who cares? My SJ T-shirt has holes in it. Time for a new one!
The second reason for my posting is to recommend that SJ fans check out
DC Comic's Cartoon Network Action Pack comics, if you haven't yet. Although not in every issue, the Action Pack often include a Samurai Jack tale. Now, you may think as I did that a Samurai Jack comic book sounds kinda lame. But I recently got a chance to see several SJ stories they've done in the past. Some of them are surprisingly good!
One frequent SJ comic writer in particular, Jim Alexander, really understands Jack. A self-proclaimed SJ fan, he's done several new versions of Aku's Fairy Tales, which are just flat-out silly. He's also written some more serious Jack adventures. At least two of them actually choked me up a little. Did I mention he's a Scotsman? How cool is that? You can see Jim's blog at
http://jimalwriter.blogspot.com/Two of the comic book artists do an especially good job of drawing Jack, Ethen Beavers and Philip Moy. Moy's Jack is sometimes a little off, but Beavers does a uniformly excellent job. You can check out some of Beavers' work at his deviantArt gallery:

Peace!
