Surprise...
I decided at the end of the last semester that I would not return to Japanese classes until I have attained a degree.
This was brought upon by my experience with the McNair program. My hiatus from language classes made me realize just how much we must sacrifice to excel in them. It turns out that I do have other things that are more important than constant memorization. It seems that starting Japanese as a Junior was destined to produce this outcome. In my time away, I realized that I have been a student long enough and that it is time for me to move on as quickly as possible. My desire pushes me to gain my degree and go. I have several options for grad school, but I may even postpone those as I have found truly interesting prospects elsewhere...
I do support this program and I wish everyone the best in their persuits. I am not leaving or anything, just redirecting my efforts.
I just thought those of you who I consider friends should know, and it is better to hear it from me.
