Because people have misinterpreted me before, I feel forced to say this. My use of racially specific words does not mean I have racists feelings. I only use these words as a characteristic of a person, like " I don't see much quadriplegic people in the course of my life". Aplogies to nyone who is insulyted by my choice of words.
Saw Princess Diaries 2 yesterday nite. It was pretty good, don't remember the first one enough to compare but i think PD1 was slightly better, it had Mandy Moore wearing complimenting makeup.
10 Pet peeves, in no particular order, just whatever ones I can remember, in the order that I remember them;
1. People who make fun of black slang, yet use other slang themselves. To me, that's the same as racism.
2. Amazing movies with unnecessary gore, a la Kill Bill Vol 1 (Extreme example, because that was a GREAT movie that just had blood flowing like a water fro a broken toilet tank.)
3. Seeing people you were friends with after a long time, and being too chicken to go up and talk to them.(I know this can't be just me who experiences this.)
4. People who say they hate rock music and don't realize that what they like to listen to sometimes is really soft rock.
5. People who say they hate rap, yet can sing all the lyrics from several well known rap tunes, past and present.
6. The way the average person is initmidated by black people(especially blakc people in groups), and even when they need to talk to a stranger, will look to almost anyone before the black people.
7. People who will often be free and honest with you over MSN but will barely talk to you in school, and if they do, it'll be fake and they'll hide they're true feelings.(There is a very specific example that I am thinking of with someone from DM who I grew close with over MSN, but we didnt talk in school at all for a while, and when we finally did, she didnt talk to me as a friend, but only as an associate. So I dropped her from my convos and my respect)
8. People who ask you for the time, then point at their wrist. I know where my watch is. Do I point at my crotch and ask where the washroom is? (This isn't actually a pet peeeve at all. I just read this quote on a joke site and liked it. And I'm getting kinda short on pet peeves to write up.)
9. Rich-up snobbish people who support two-tier health care and other Americanized, extreme right wing ideals.(I'm a right wing believer myself, but I still believe Canada should support the less fortunate. I think most of our current social programs and such are better than their American counterparts, no matter who thinks otherwise.)
10. The way black people in Canada try to imitate blacks from the US and the Caribbean, with their JaFAKEan accents when they were born an raised in Canada, and their ever changing slang words that are supposed to come from the heart of black America. In America, ebonics (the language of black people) actually is its own dialect of English, because there, it has evolved in most places to more than just slang. But here in Canada, where every school uses the Governor General's English, what the black youth speak out in the streets is just slang, bits of real ebonics phrases that are picked out and combined with quoted lines from sellout rapper's songs. It is just imitation and trend, but they make it seem like its something more(because it is in the Caribbean and parts of America where children grow up speaking NOTHING else), when in Canada it just isnt. Period
Wow. I wrote that much? Thats crazy. I wish I had time to read it over and see if I mean all of it. Oh well, maybe later.
Please do tell me if I missed something in this entry.
