I had a tight deadline on Friday, so Thursday night, I did some work from home and then emailed the file to my work email.  When I got to work on Friday, the email wasn't there.  Normally, that would have been a huge problem and I would have wound up having to redo everything.  However, that Friday night I had my science fiction club, for which I was secretary, and had arranged to meet a few people in Virginia for dinner first.  So, in order not to have to Metro back to Maryland and then drive to the dinner, I drove to work and brought my laptop with me so I could take notes at the meeting.  Therefore, I had my computer with me and could access the file.

This may have been the only time all year I brought my laptop in, and it turns out to be the one time I needed it.  Super-lucky!
