John misses the West Coast. Not Mexico and Arizona as much as California. The air smells different near the Pacific than it does in New Jersey, and six months hasn't helped him to like it a whole hell of a lot better.
It's weird, the things he thinks about when he's actively trying not to think about other things. To worry about Allison, her therapists appointment, whether or not she'll be more of Sarah's machine and less of herself by the time she makes it to the cafe he's waiting in.
Whether or not she'll make it at all.
So far, the one thing he can appreciate about cafes...so many college students and 9-5ers and caffeine addicted people that one guy in the corner table where he can see the entire place isn't attracting too much attention. No matter how much he fidgets, now and then.
