Winding Down

Young Robin had enjoyed a very busy afternoon. So many people and places and wonderful things to see!

He'd visited Mister Cupid and Mister Blair, and seen the wonderful Smiley Kitty from Bliss's party again. He picked up a ball in a field with lots of Big Folk in funny clothes, one of which chased him for a little while but probably got too tired to keep up.

He passed by three pretty ladies. He knew Miss Joan but not the lady in the fancy clothes with the funny white kitty, or other one next to the great big building. She didn't say hello, but she had that Grown Up Serious expression so he didn't stop. He saw Mister Mike and Mister Joxer, which was fun, and ran past a big open door with people inside. He thought he recognized the pretty dark haired lady and wondered if he should have stopped to say hello, which is only polite. But then he ended up in a field and was chased all over by an elf lord, which was very silly! Why, he didn't think even his Da had been chased by an elf before!

Best of all, he'd seen the wonderful Maia, Mister Meddatron. Finally running out of energy, Robin stopped to visit and the Maia had given him blueberry milk, which was cold and thick and even better than his mother would make for him, although Robin wouldn't never ever tell her that because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. The Maia had even given him a new toy! A bright yellow duckie for the bathtub. And it was a special duckie, too! Because Mister Meddatron said it was a gift from the Mama of all the Big Folks.

Hugging his new duckie, Robin lay down on the cool green grass and sighed happily. Which is where his mother Rose found him shortly thereafter, curled up and sleeping, a happy smile on his little face.

"Well, there you are, my little hare!" she said with relief. "You gave me quite a chase, you did!"

Robin only murmured in his sleep, quite worn out from his adventures. Rose shook her head and clucked her tongue, but wrapped a big soft fluffy towel around his nakedness and lifted him into her arms.

"Home we go, sweetling," she murmured into his sleeping ear. "And you've more than earned your bath!"
