Miserable, No Good, Very Bad Day...

Mar 11, 2012 18:17

This morning I went to church. I didn't want to get up as I had a really hard time falling asleep last night and it was the whole "spring back" thing (daylight savings time, lost an hour). But I was promised free lunch and besides, I enjoy hanging out with my friend, so I went. I go to church to do two things: practice my beliefs by worshiping the God I believe in and to see my friend. I don't need to listen to a sermon that talks about the "evil of homosexual marriage". I turned to my friend, told her I was leaving, she said she understood, and I walked out.

I mean, really? It's 2012. Even though I've lived in MS for 5 years now, I've only ever heard a sermon like that once before, and the guy who gave that one was from Boston...walked out of that one, too, but still. I just want to be able to worship the same God they do without being prejudiced against. Not that most of the people in that church know I'm a lesbian, but still. The friend who attends that church? Her daughter is a lesbian! I'm surprised she didn't walk out, too.

Argh, I didn't need this on top of everything else. I need to find a new church.
