Well, this came out of nowhere
This is the first bunny I've had in.... over a year, I believe. I blame RL, becaue I was all ready to give up on SPN.
Actually, I still am, but this bunny just had to be written down somewhere.
Sam's 3 or 4, which makes Dean 8 or 9. They're living somewhere new, just moved in, and the neighbours next door have a huge birthday party for their kid. It's someone the boys have met, but they weren't invited.
It's the kind of part where it's obvious the parents went all out. The streamers and baloons can be seen from far away, certainly from across the fense. There are baloon animals and games and a magician and all sort of stuff like that. There are many kids, and it's kinda loud - and then there's wee!Sam&Dean, standing by the fense, listening.
Both Dean and Sam really want to go, but they weren't invited, and while Sam doesn't exactly comprehend the concept of having to be invited, Dean is still that closed off little boy not yet the kid who would crash a party.
Sam keeps asking him why they can't go, why not, doesn't Dean like parties? Sam's sure there's cake, doesn't Dean want cake? Can't Sam have some? Can he have some if he promises to share it with Dean and not spoil his dinner etc.
At one point, Sam drops a doomsday weapon - but it's your birthday, too, Dean - which doesn't help obviously, and Sam picks up on it. He kicks some sand off and says he doesn't even want to go to the stupid party. He'd much rather spend the time with Dean playing... (some lame game like Monopoly, which they've played a million times and Sam always wins cuz they don't even have all the parts and they made up their own rules which make sure he would...)
I just saw those 2 kids standing listening outside the party and my heart went 'awwww'. *sighs*
