I was up at 5:30am. I went to sleep at about 9:30pm last night. I just could not keep my eyes open anymore.
It's nice to have a window where the light can slowly come in and wake me up. I unpacked a little more and then at 9:30 left the hotel. I almost forgot where the station was. My main destination of the day was the the museum of contemporary art in the Tokyo- district. I thought it would take me about an hour to get there, I was wrong.... it took me about 2 hours. I did stop at a cafe and a place to get tickets for tomorrow's activities in-between. Bread is so good and fresh, I couldn't resist.
Once I got there, I was happy to not be en-route anymore. It was a different type of art, and you know it's good if you have a few tears while looking at the works. The place is big, and it keeps you going in circles and to different levels. I'm sure if that's just the way it is in Japan, on purpose, or by coincidence. It made me a bit discombobulated. The two artist featured were Ay-o and Atsuko Tanaka. Tanaka's works had a bit of the crazy-lady feeling to them, and Ay-o's work was mostly working in a blocked-raindow-specturm but very methodical. It's something you have to see.
On the way back I stopped at another pastry shop. Yes this is how you eat in Japan, it's very common not to sit and have formal meal throughout the day. I stopped in a couple of the areas that I am more familiar with to get my bearing again. Tomorrow should be much easier to get around. On the way back to the hotel took a look in the attached department store, and the shopping begins. There are designers here that we do not have in the states, or collaborations that are exclusive to Japan.
It's about 6:45pm, as I am writing this. So what's on my list for the rest of my day? Within the next hour go and get a curry-rice dinner, and then at 10pm I am getting a massage. Oh, the joys of being in the city that nearly doesn't sleep. Then it's off to bed, and we'll see what tomorrow brings.
