Axl Rose clearly likes to kick up a storm by keeping a crowd waiting for nearly 2 hours before taking to the stage - but heck it was worth it. Thanks to Ciri for arranging the tickets. If he does another tour I’ll be sure to go again. I’m just going to stay sitting on the floor for longer next time ;)
It’s been a busy week since the gig, but my enthusiasm was torched again last night when James was finally back at work asking how it went. Bless him, he said he hated being home ill as he was already desperate to hear new on Monday when he knew I’d be in. He’s wanted feedback ever since I mentioned I was going and his face had lit up in wonderment. If we hadn’t lost people at such short notice, I know both him & his fiancée would have been keen. We had hyped each other up over the GnR classics last night then ended up discussing favourite songs in general with him insisting I listen to “Here Without You” by 3 Doors Down. Good enough recommendation for me, and last night I acquired a few albums and I’m impressed with what I’ve managed to listen to so far.
Rather surprised that he started a conversation about “it” crowds last night as he’s becoming disillusioned with a few people. I’ve found it hard to fit back in during the evenings since being off for 2 months for my operation because people have come and gone. I hadn’t been feeling the most comfortable with the little groups that had formed in that time and had kept to my own company a bit which was why I was surprised when he requested me to sit next to him. He turned around last night and said I’m not a normally girlie girl and he doesn’t have to watch what he says with me or worry about funny looks. Well he’s read me well already - made me smile anyway.
Anyhoo - back to the week. Guns N Roses gig - brilliant. I could watch Axl Rose throw himself around a stage forever. He can still hit the notes. Despite my brother keep whispering in my ear to stop fancying “ginger people” He’s the only one honest! Nope, every other actor/singer I like is dark. Check …
Puppet shows - excellent and so was the company. Really enjoyed the whole evening. When you manage to relate to a puppet struggling to get out of a chair, you know that a) you briefly got old before your time, and b) that the emotion and movement is being very well adapted and timed from a normally inanimate object by the puppetmaster. I still wish I could afford to see Avenue Q still in London.
Saturday was sucker for punishment day driving to Birmingham and then Cambridge … screeching outside with 10 mins to spare for Amy’s birthday cinema and meal. I liked Amy’s sophiscated friends - I want my own … putting up with Rob … OMG how could I forget!! Never ever ever ever eating KFC in a car again with him. NEVER! I could have killed us both with him feeding me whilst driving. It was mild to start with .. Choo-choo-training the popcorn chicken, here’s a tunnel … etc etc. Became “come on deep throat the chip” and “lick the ball” No touching my stereo either. You’re lucky you only made me cry with tears of laughter. (Note to self - straightjacket required in car for next visit)
Thank you to Rich for acquiring the work flat for the evening as it made things really helpful and convenient for everyone to crash at. Now I have a plastic cricket set and Frisbee in my boot, I’m going to build a complete travel kit of goodies to keep in the car. Need poker chips and travel board games as backup.
Thanks to Teresa for taping Rockstar Supernova (damn bastards for moving it to Sky Three *sulk* the one channel ntl doesn't provide) The band clearly want Lucas - he’s the only guy with the right voice and attitude, but I would like to think a girl will get it. I’m torn between completely loving Dilana with her craziness rock/goth look and attitude, to watching how pretty Storm is facially when she sings.
Tomorrow I have the day off, just because. So I’m arranging to meet Karen & Rich for lunch and then do nothing for the rest of the day.
For those interested - we are in the process of selecting locations for any upcoming Tangent21 tparties in the future. All those wanting to go should make the effort to vote
here in the poll please Oooh and I've booked tickets already for the Supernatural/Smallville Asylum event 2007. I'm assuming it's going to sell reasonably quickly, so I've temporarily used the funds I was considering saving for Serenity instead :(
