Retreat!
Well, I am giving up and retreating to my folks' house in the country for a while. I am taking the ailing offspring, my wheezing chest and swollen leg and getting the hell out of Dodge. Yesterday's disasterous and increasingly painful hobbling around after cranky and demanding sick child taught me that I cannot manage her alone during the day. (There was an alarming moment last night when my foot swelled up and was almost totally numb because I had not had it elevated enough all day.)
Good news though is that sprog looks a bit better today and is all keen to go visit the doggies. Plus the storm that was supposed to be washing us away today seems to have blown away in the night and there is sunshine and balmy breezes now. I gather other parts of Europe have not been so lucky though - flooding all over Southern Germany and Switzerland (I suppose it makes me a bad person when the fact that a place called Interlaken is flooded strikes me as inexpressibly funny - I mean what did they expect? - but I imagine it is not at all funny if you happen to live there).
