lost in time

Was running round like the proverbial blue arsed insect this morning getting DD ready for a party but when I rang for directions found that it wasn't until tomorrow and indeed, there on the calendar, was the proof that I am totally lost in time. Gah! Now DD is understandably grumpy and my newsletter editing schedule has been thrown into chasis ... again.

Nearly the end of August! Crikey! We seem to be having our Indian summer right on schedule but at least we got to enjoy some of it down the country and Mum and Dad's last week. Plus it was Timoleague Village Festival Week and so FAIRGROUND! DD finally got to go to her first fair and ride on some silly rides and experience the noise and the ghastly cuddly toy prizes.
She loved it! As the fair did not open until after her bedtime this was an extra treat and she coped well with the 'no candy floss before bed!' caveat (although we did buy some in a bag for bringing back to Cork). We went twice; we also got to watch a combine harvester in action, visit three playgrounds, receive one set of visitors, explore Timoleague Abbey, go swimming at the pool, see the Tour of Ireland cyclists get ready to start off in Clonakilty and go to a toy shop. crawled back to the city bone knackered after three days of rural 'rest and relaxation'. sheesh! school starts on Thursday. Must get labeling things.

Have been having more abdominal pain lately. Very wearing. Ultrasound on Monday to look for gallstones. The wheels of medical investigation here grind exceeding slow. With a month between medical updates being the usual standard I find myself really hoping I do have the damned stones. Positive diagnoses get chased up must faster than negative findings.

Also, gakked from doc_mystery a truly terrifying book meme. Not for the faint of heart. He came out as Jurassic Park. Me?

You're The Mists of Avalon!

by Marion Zimmer Bradley

You're obsessed with Camelot in all its forms, from Arthurian legend
to the Kennedy administration. Your favorite movie from childhood was "The Sword in
the Stone". But more than tales of wizardry and Cuban missiles, you've focused on
women. You know that they truly hold all the power. You always wished you could meet
Jackie Kennedy.
