Yesterday I was going through old entires, deleting more personal-leveled stuff because I want to keep this more on the writing side type of journal. I stumbled upon an entry where I started talking about how I decided to quit smoking.
That was two years ago.
I've been smoke-free for TWO WHOLE YEARS!!
I've tried to quit smoking in the past. The longest I had ever made it was 6 months. My main reason to quit was when my uncle found out he had lung cancer. So I quit because he wanted me to. I quit because my aunt made me cry in the middle of freaking Chili's when she saw a pack of cigarettes in my purse. I quit because in the long run, I knew I had to.
The first person I wanted to tell this great news to was my uncle, but he's not longer with us. So instead I'm going to celebrate tonight (a day late) by eating a big piece of cake, and still know I made one of the best decisions for myself two years ago.
