After having played the MATY version of the uberhood since Nov '09 I royally screwed it up when I attempted to delete some dead grandparents using SimPE. Or at least, that's what I blamed the glitches on. So after 4 full rotations, many babies, and 20 loves for Mr. Carlos Contender, I scrapped it in favor of the newer, shinier version as provided by
meetme2theriver here:
http://meetme2theriver.livejournal.com/36433.html So RIP my beloved simmies and now it's time to welcome in the new!
My game rules (Note: I don't have the Pets EP, but Cyd Roseland does appear in my game. Long story.):
All single, childless adults were aged down to teenagers in order to be sent to college at the end of the first rotation. Exception to this rule was Jessica Peterson...who I decided not to send because a) I forgot her, & b) seemed odd to make her a teenager with an ex-husband. Of course Dina was married, but since Michael isn't around anymore, it's not as big an inconsistency. Also broke off Cassandra & Don's engagement. Downside of this strategy is that some of the teens have crushes or are in love with adults or elders.
The 'new teens' moved into orphanages run by the sim bin families, except those with living relatives. The benefit of this was that the new teens brought some serious cash to their new households, enabling the poor sim bin families to afford nice big spacious homes.
-Bianca Monty living with her parents in Veronaville.
-Kent Capp (& Patricia Wan) living with Regan and Cornwall in Veronaville.
-Gabriel Green living with Albany & Goneril in Veronaville.
-Florence Delarosa living with Antonio Monty in Veronaville.
-Connor Weir, Ajay Loner, Kristen Loste, Chester Gieke, Cyd Roseland, & Leod McGreggor living with the Oldies in Pleasantview.
-Malcolm Landgraab & Natasha Una (forgot she was related to the Aspirs!) living with the Gavigans in Pleasantview.
-Lola Curious living with the Smiths in Strangetown.
-Erin Beaker & an aged-down Nervous living with the Beakers.
-Chloe Curious & aged-down Vidcund & Lazlo living at the Curious residence.
-Don Lothario & Chastity Gere living with the Picasos in Strangetown.
-Cleo Shikibu living at the Viejo/Martin residence in Riverblossom Hills.
-Julien Cooke & John Mole living with the Travellers in Riverblossom.
-The Calientes & the Larsons are living with the Ramaswamis in Desiderata Valley.
-Geoff Rutherford living with the Clevelands in Belladonna Cove.
-The Cordials living with the Burbs downtown.
-Cassandra Goth & Sharon Worth were aged down but still at the same residences.
-Herbert & Faith Goodie were aged down to adults and moved downtown into the House of Fallen Trees with the Newson BOYS (yes I split them up).
-The Newson girls are living with Alexandra Teatherton in Pleasantview.
I decided I wanted to spice things up by splitting up most if not all of the 'no-bolt' or 'one-bolt' chemistry marriages. I played a one-day rotation on all the lots to age down sims, remodel homes, and get a feel for things. The couples that will NOT be breaking up are:
-The Pleasants. Surprising, but they had two bolts so I kept them together and gave Mary Sue Pleasure as a secondary aspiration.
-The Smiths. I think they only had one bolt, but they're family sims and just feel right together.
-The Beakers.
-The Summerdream/Gossamer family.
-The Ramirez's.
-The Tinkers. They make such ugly children. But I like that. :)
-The Greenmans.
-The Contrarys.
-Regan & Cornwall Capp.
-Goneril & Albany Capp. Totally incompatible but they have four kids and I decided to keep them together, because, well, you'll see what happened.
-The Goodies. I love these two as adults.
I'll leave the Oldies and Monty's alone. I've already decided on some new couples, but am waiting for the full rotation to end and all the new teens to go to uni and see who they have chemistry with. Speaking of uni...
All sims will go to uni on their 3rd rotation as teens (excepting the ones who started as teens), but not all will graduate. Most likely to drop out: family sims. There's also a 10k fee to attend uni that all families must pay as soon as they send off their kids. This leads to debt in some families (most notoriously Brandi Broke, who ended up 7k in debt after sending Beau. That was my bad because I just remodeled their house and forget he was going. Whoops).
The only LTWs I won't touch are:
-Have six grandkids. Sorry Dora. >:)
-Own five top businesses. Not a fan of running community lot businesses, although sims who get this LTW might open up a home one, or a community lot salon in order to makeover townies...which is probably the thing that gives me greatest joy in this game. Sad, huh?
-Marry six kids. I will roll a die for sims with this want and whatever number comes up is how many kids they'll have. So far...Wanda Tinker rolled a four which means I get three ugly Tinker spawn!
Creatures. I'm not a big fan:
-I hate Servos. I think because I prefer them to be objects that you can order to do something (like in the original Sims) as opposed to their own individual selves who cook food I don't need. Probably won't see one.
-Zombies are fun...for a while. Fact that they won't age or die, kills it for me (HA!) .
-Vampires...I haven't really tried much. I actually made Regan and Cornwall Capp vampires but they were living in Capp Manor and nearly died crossing that huge lawn in order to get to the carpool.
-Plantsims I don't mind for a while. Especially when they're pregnant or have toddlers in the house. But the staying awake for 24 hours thing bugs me and they'll probably change back after their toddlers age up to children.
-I've never moved in a bigfoot. But then again, I rarely to never send sims on vacation (don't like the non-aging thing that goes on there).
-Witches I'm okay with.
-Aliens are more than welcome! They're normal sims without any weird non-aging perks and throw fun genetics into the family. :)
Freetime perks:
I use the grilled cheese perks, chicken soup (family), hospitality (popularity), and skilled negotiator (fortune). I also use the needs perks for toddlers, kids, and sometimes pregnant sims. But that's it. If you really want to get abducted by aliens, you gotta earn it!
Aspirations:
Kids with 8 or higher outgoing points become popularity sims. That's my favorite aspiration :). Kids with science as their predestined hobby will become knowledge sims. Kids with cuisine as their predestined hobby will have grilled cheese as a secondary aspiration...because otherwise they'll drive me crazy.
Other nonsense!:
-General rule is one pregnancy per family, unless one of the parents has a 'Graduate 3 kids' or the 'Marry 6 kids' LTWs but I will break this rule in the first round...a lot.
-I hate winter, but am going to give it a try for the first 'year.' If I still can't stand it, then it's back to a summer-fall-summer-spring rotation. Screw the cold and snow. Brr!
-I don't usually marry in townies, but my mind changed when I saw the overabundance of single males (adults and YAs). Christy Stratton has already made herself extremely available to one guy. Thank goodness, I can get her out of that tracksuit.
-The uberhood includes all base game NPCs, townies, garden club members, and some business district townies. So apologies if you're allergic to Goopy, but he is there. :) I added on the downtown (with all the usual downtownies) & vacation destinations (with all the usual natives) myself but added meetme2theriver's cleaned-up unis so dormies are generated as needed. Social groupies are also generated as needed (for empty apartments) but for some reason my idiot game only generated MALE ELDERS. ARGH! I used the townie maker to create some FEMALE ADULTS because that's what I really need. Hobby club leaders are generated as needed and sometimes in some awesomely bad outfits, but I love that.
-First round rotation is four days (I've already played one day on each lot...so I guess it's a total of five days. Whatever.). Anyway, order goes by youngest sims in family. So those with babies are played first, then toddlers, then kids, then teens, then adults. I'll get to the young adults when I feel like it.
-My sims don't often go downtown or to community lots. I don't like the load screens. It's not super slow but annoys me to the point of wondering why I should send you on a date downtown when you can have just as good a date on your home lot and I don't have to stare at the blue man walking. So for the most part they only go to community lots for clothes & phones.
-No CC clothes but what I made myself. For the first time EVER I went on a downloading CC hair spree. I'm still trying to figure out what I like and what I don't. Found only one decent male hair, argh.
Holy schnapps that was long. Anyway...Ciao. Pictures to follow...
