Firefox Extensions

Well, this is kind of a random post, but maybe some one will find it useful.

I'm hopeful that everyone reading this already uses firefox, rather than internet explorer or opera, but, if not, switch asap (www.getfirefox.com)

One cool thing about firefox is that you can add 'extensions' which are little add-ons that users make and post on the firefox website. They're very useful, so I thought I'd post my favorites so people can download them if you want. Just hit download, and firefox takes care of the installing, etc. It's really very easy. In no particular order:

1. ForecastFox - this adds a little thing on the empty bar at the bottom of the broswer which gives a little, unobtrusive three-day forecast (through pictures-- sun, sun with clouds, snow, etc.). It's very useful.

2. IE View - this allows you to open a tab of internet explorer within firefox for those annoying websites which are ie only, for example, microsoft.com.

3. Disable Blank Targets - some website (read: gmail attachments) open up a blank new window sometimes when you click on links. This gets rid of that.

4. Cute Menus - just aethetic. Makes your menus much better looking.

5. Gmail delete button - this is pretty cool just because it shows how powerful firefox is. this extention actually adds a button to gmail that says delete. i like this so i can more easily delete junk mail and facebook notifications. And it looks exactly like all the other buttons in the gmail interface.

6. Google Page Rank - just cool. Next to where your weather forecast is, this extention shows you google page rank. It's a 0-10 system that is supposed to show you how credible/important a site is. And it's just kind of fun.

7. FoxyTunes - This adds iTunes or windows media player seamlessly into the firefox interface. Very useful and looks very nice. A little better than just using the iTuens mini-player, I think.

Anyway, maybe someone will enjoy this. I know i do. It's worth looking through the other extensions on the firefox page. They also give you 'themes' which make the whole firefox interface look nice. I switch between foru or five. Maybe it anyone finds this useful, at some point I'll post those.
