Ran the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. It was the hottest marathon in the 30-year history of the race (over 90 degrees). One guy died (they say it was a heart condition, not the heat), and dozens were hospitalized. I was able to finish before they cancelled the race, 30 minutes slower than what I originally wished to run. I was just happy to finish, regardless of my time. Timmy also survived the race, and I'm very proud of both of us for doing it.
I ran for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in honor of my dad, and ended up raising $7395.00. The society had several events set up for us, and Kaitie was there with me to enjoy it all. Yummy Chicago-style pizza, a big pasty party before the race, and a victory party afterward that I stayed at for a very short time before going up to the room, lying down, and watching some football. I'm very sore, but very happy. Thanks to all who donated. It means a lot.
BTW, the high in Chicago tomorrow is 57 degrees. Damnit.
