It seems like whenever I update, you guys get the highlights. No middle, average stuff, only the things that stick out to me. I hope that's okay.
This week has seemed sooo long, and it's only wednesday. We have Friday off, and Stephanie Teel, praise God for her, is driving up early, early Friday morning (4:00 am?) at my request so I can be back for Jack's service. The drama was figuring that all out; earlier this week it looked as though we could be driving up Thursday afternoon/evening, then it was changed to Friday and I would't get there until Friday afternoon, then we looked into flights, and the whole thing was just a mess. I was mess; I didn't know how excited I was to be going home until we got the ball rolling on logistics, and then the ball decided to fly out of everyone's hands and bounce around like crazy while we all scramble around the catch it.
I was pretty upset about the whole thing. Last night I went to University Ministries at Malibu Pres and sang "Blessed be your name". The verse that strikes me the most "on the road marked with suffering/though there's pain in the offering/blessed be your name" resounded as always. Then I went back to the dorm, talked more about logisitics and got upset again, and ran around the track to Jeff Zabel. What song would come on when I started but "Blessed be your name"? So God got my attention. He's good at that.
Then crazy good stuff happens. Like surprise 2-hour long lunch chats with the girl that you both assumed "didn't have as much to talk about". Turns out this girl is pretty much the same person as me, only quieter, more thoughtful and from San Diego. Divine appointment. And there's kooky stuff too, like the new pledges for a fraternity invading our dorm to serenade us all in our lobby; my friends and I ended up with a guy in our laps singing "L...is for the way you look at me...". Plus the 12-hour lacrosse trip on Saturday with lots of sun, lots of running around, lots to learn, and good times. I was also so stoked to chat with Josh and Aly for a bit.
After my trip HOME!!!, the next big thing is a lacrosse trip to Hawaii! Stay tuned for the roller coaster that is Sam until then...
