A Path Paved by Moonlight, Blessed by the River

May 13, 2005 03:01

The moon shines brighter tonight
and guides me through the darkness
I feel alive perhaps for the first time in my life.
Awoken from my slumber by the light on my face
I take another step forward
Another step at my own pace,

stepping cautiously into the darkness
with my fingers outstretched instinctively.
I hold my breath in anticipation
with each step forward, listening to the grains
of sand crunching underneath the soles of my shoes
and the sound of tiny rocks
tumbling away from me down to a deeper part of the earth,
whispering to me to stand still and look up.

I see the world drawn by the shape of the stars tonight
And I follow moonbeams as they shine down
on the river far below.
these two together are the narrators of my soul
Connecting my dreams with reality
So that i can step every now and then
Off these tumbling rocks
And let the moonlight guide me down
Imaginary steps
For a sip of moon blessed water

Holy liquid pours down my throat
slow at first
but trickling steadily
like the gentle rain of a spring shower.
Hours pass by
they might as well be minutes
Soon the evening skies mimick the water
Pouring on my shoulders
Blessing the land as it passes through the moonlight.
I listen to the rhythms of the rain and embrace its comfort

soon I am wrapped in a hammock of raindrops
resting weary feet that have treaded through darkness.
my body swings to the rhythmic story-telling of moonbeams and rivers into sleep
while my soul listens to the stillness of night
for guidance to step forward again and again
this time, in sunlight.
