Minor whining

Dec 15, 2005 06:51

Ok I confess, this year we sent a newsletter in our christmas cards. We'd never done it before. Honest! Every single year we would write a personal note and sometimes a full letter in every single one of the hundred or so cards that we send out. We RECEIVE countless family newsletters, which honestly, for the most part, we enjoy. Especially from people with whom we have mostly lost touch it was wonderful to get caught up. That said, this year since so much has happened in a relatively short time, rather than write the same thing over and over and over, we succumbed to laziness and put together a nice little newsletter WITH photos and sent it out to far away friends and family with whom we have NOT been in touch regularly. Some of those people didn't even know that we've moved yet. (yes I know shame on me0> The preceeding is to explain why I am so hurt by the note I got in one card yesterday from an old college friend. We have gotten to the point where our only communication anymore is via christmas cards but for our part, we always have looked forward to receieving THEIR family newsletter every year. At the bottom of their newsletter, in red ink was the following sentence, "we're very much impressed and honoured with your hand-written note." Which sounds snarky to me. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it just sounds like a "shot".
My first instinct was to write a letter of apology. And then I'm thinking..hey wait...this is the first time EVER that we've done this. Should I feel guilty? Obviously I do, but mostlyl I'm hurt.

OK..now time to get over it.
Thanks for listening to me whine I'm done now
Hugs
