Thus ends an era

I'm joining the mass of people not returning to WHS's most esteemed athletic organization: the volleyball team. I don't know...ever since I got that e-mail telling me about my "workout schedule" I've been getting cold feet. It's not that I resent a good workout, it's just that I feel that volleyball was to the fall what track is to the spring--something to fill time with. Last year was a lot of fun because my team got to dick around a lot and just enjoy ourselves. There were no expectations, no disappointments, it was just more of an activity than a real sporting experience for me. That's not to say that people can't take it seriously...go for it, Misty May, I don't mind...but just that's not why I joined. Aside from that philosophical approach, I figure I'll be pretty preoccupied with all my other collegiate-aimed activities. Maybe now I can go after that lifeguarding job at Vanderbilt Mrs. Young asked me about...

I'll miss our times on the bus last year. I'll miss scrimmaging with my lovely JV girls. I promise the drop-outs will pay some visits and cheer the teams on. For those of you (Jess, Jo, Maura, Katie "Fat" Banis, etc) who are not participating, be prepared for a we-no-longer-play-volleyball lunch someday. I mean, I always promised a lunch date with all of them way back when, but people like Tricia and Katie couldn't stop getting grounded...

P.S. The current music is dedicated to Maura...I always associate Ciera (spelling? Crazy transsexual...) with her!
