[Prelude]When Haruka walked down that isle with his dress on, he caught all the eyes in the chapel. Having such a slim body and a pretty face didn't help either; he was the center of attention.
Makoto…. Save me…
Haruka wanted to scream out loud every step he took while walking down the red carpet. However, he knew his strict father was staring at him, hinting at him to not do anything stupid. Staring at the floor, the bride reluctantly walk towards where the red hair groom was standing and made his way in front of him.
"Do you, Matsuoka Rin, take Nanase Haruka to be your lawfully wedded wife?" the priest asked.
"I do." Rin says with a confidence, while looking at his soon to be wife, only to see his attention facing the door of the chapel.
"Do you, Nanase Haruka, take Matsuoka Rin as your wedded husband?" The priest asked the absentminded bride, attention still at the door.
"Nanase-san?"
A second later, the door swing open, a familiar silhouette stands at the door way.
"HARU!!!"
It's him… I remember that voice…
"Makoto…?" Haru whispered.
"Makoto…." Rin growled under his breath at the sight of his most hated man.
"Nanase san, your response please?" the priest asked yet again.
"I…" There was tremor in his voice, "I don't…" the bride runs out of the spot light and ran into the arms of his one and only love. The two underground love birds made their debut and left the chapel hand in hand.
"HEY! WHERE ARE YOU GOING WITH MY WIFE?!"
As they ran away from the awful chapel, Haruka stares at the guy who had just freed him from his arranged wedding with tearful eyes.
Makoto…
Haru couldn't think straight; while Makoto's warm grip was once again reunited with his slim hands, deep down he felt guilty for leaving this man and not standing up for himself. He felt like he had betrayed their relationship and didn't deserve his love to risk his life to steal him away from the arranged marriage.
"We gotta run Haru-chan or they're gonna catch up to us!" Haru didn't notice he was slowing down because of all the thoughts running through his mind. Makoto gave Haru the usual smile as he sweats from running. "Sorry.." The latter said so softly Makoto couldn't hear.
The two runaway lovers ran to a park 2 blocks away from the chapel, Haru thought he must've ran a marathon since he was running in heels Rin had made him wear.
"Makoto…. Haa… I can't run anymore…" He puffed, feeling exhausted.
"Then let's stop here." The older boy said as he gestured Haru to sit on the side of the grand water fountain.
The two didn't talk to each other for a while. Awkwardness was filled in the atmosphere and the 2 just didn't know how to break the ice, especially since they haven't talked in 2 months. Haru took off the heels and his feet were all swollen, too swollen to fit in the heels anymore.
Although Haru didn't request anything, Makoto took his own shoes off and offered them to Haru.
"I thought you'd never come… I thought you hated me…" The bride murmured between his inhalation as Makoto helps him wear his sneakers.
"Baka…. How could I ever hate you?"
"Then why haven't you been answering my calls???" Haru's eyes were getting watery. "I was so worried…I was worried that Rin might've done something to you! I thought he'd hurt you… I thought… I thought…" It made it hard for Makoto not to want to cradle him in his wide chest.
"It's not your fault at all Haru!" Makoto pulls him away from his chest, "Look at me Haru - Chan, I'm perfectly fine! As fit as ever!" It was hard for Makoto to maintain his usually calm and soothing voice, but he forced himself to just so that it won't worry Haru. "The reason why I didn't pick up your calls is cause…" Makoto murmured.
"Cause what?"
"Cause this…"
Still kneeling on the floor, Makoto takes out a small box from his pocket.
"Mako…to…"
"Nanase Haruka, will you be my wife?"
"Makoto… you've been working… to buy this… for me…"
Makoto takes a deep breath and held out one hand to hold on to Haru's
"I would do anything…just for you. I promised to give you the best thing in my abilities… but I know I’m no match compared to that Matsuoka bastard… I don't have a rich background… so I can only work hard myself.. But.. Haru.. I promise you I'll give my heart to you… so please…will you marry me?"
For a moment, there was nothing but silence. Haru didn't say anything nor did Makoto. Makoto felt a tear drop on to his hand, he looks up to his beautiful wife to be.
"That's a given isn't it? Of course I will!" Said Haru as streams of tears were falling from his eyes. He could barely speak from the surprise but he managed to give his man his response.
"There's no other that can make me as happy as you do… Promise me you'll never leave me Makoto.. Never let me be taken away from you…" Makoto could feel the shirt on his shoulder dampen with Haru's tears. He holds him even tighter in his arms.
"I'll protect you even if it means sacrificing my life"
