Summertime...
Busy-busy, as usual. Went to SYG at Camp Bernard last weekend--actually camped this year-- and had a surprisingly good time. Missed out on swimming last night due to a big swim meet taking up the whole pool, which I wasn't aware of until I'd gone all the way there on the bus... pooey. Oh well.
This afternoon an old high school chum is getting married, and we're going to the wedding. It should be lovely; she's got a very nice day for it. I'm happy for her, but not excited. Feeling a wee bit emotionally flat today--probably just tired. I'm sure things will improve once I'm there and mingling with people.
Tomorrow I've got my work cut out for me; I'm baking a birthday cake. For myself. (But you already knew I was weird). Birthday dinner at my parents' place--my birthday isn't until Wednesday, but that's not a very convenient day to celebrate--and I said I'd bring the cake. I wanted a homemade one, a specialty one, just to see if it could be done, but Mum isn't nearly so adventurous as I am in the kitchen. I'm going to try and make a cake that NOBODY can complain about, which is a bit of a challenge given all the food restrictions and intolerances in the family. Fortunately nobody is allergic to chocolate :).
On Monday I'm taking the day off, because it's meant to be a holiday. Plus, I have spent next to no time with Chris over the past three weeks or so. In addition, I have been wanting to make sushi for MONTHS and might finally be able to have time on Monday. If I am really lucky I'll be able to see a friend or two over the next couple of days (aside from at the wedding) and also get some exercise. I want to get out walking or hiking or something in this lovely weather!
Next weekend, with luck, I'm going camping out on the West Coast with Dad. I'm looking forward to an awesome good old time, with lots of hiking, beach-walking, enjoying the lovely surroundings and ridiculous quantities of good food.
