Mission 101

Jul 30, 2011 20:35

Those of you who have been around here for a while might remember my mission101 list I started way back in 2006. That feels like such a long time ago, but I did (sort of) see it through to the end, managing a total of 61 on my list, which isn't too bad, I guess. That list can be seen here, if you so desire: Read more... )

i am an obsessional list maker, 2011 lists, mission 101

I'll take Supernatural (You ahs dvds?), and we should do a pub quiz. Are there any near you? Also, the stone thing? I'll help you with that one too as I throw like a man and thus find it easy to skim stones.

Yay to all of the above!

I have SPN seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, I shall bring them next time I see you. There are a couple of pubs round here that do quizzes, so that should be easy enough too. And I have NEVER been able to skim stones, so I will be very impressed if you can teach me.

Awesome times! Also, HP, I am only free Thursday this week as I'm working the late tomorrow and Wednesday and then I'm doing something Friday?

I shall teach you. New goal for moi.

I think this is genius and I am starting my own list. \o/

And I know what you mean about how boggling it is that there is a 2014. I felt like that earlier this year and it was so weird because I have been in a bad place for some time and, yeah. I can relate. :)

Please do! It's a really rewarding thing to do, and in particular with the 'bad place' thing, it kinda helps you move to a better one. :)

I am still not done with writing the list. 101 things is a lot. :D

But I love the idea.

Oh, I love your list! Is it ok if I follow you? I want to try and follow a bunch of people who start around the same time, I started mine 2 weeks ago.

And well done you for completing one allready! That might be one of my biggest challenges.

You are most welcome to follow me, I could always use the support! :)

I'm not sure 'complete' is the word for the last one, but I managed a fair few and learnt a lot from it, which is really the whole point anyway, right?

Awesome XD This reminds me that I need to update mine - hope LJ will let me :S

On the Bible front - reading the whole thing/reading Genesis & Revelations won't be massively useful. In fact I haven't even read it all myself - most of it, but there's a lot about begetting & a lot of Jewish Law in the Old Testament that doesn't even apply anymore. Genesis is interesting but Revelations is the awesome way-out-there book of the Bible & usually needs a little context.

If your aim is to understand more about Christianity, I would recommend taking an Alpha Course (I'm hoping they do these outside of London). It's basically a crash course in Christianity & the Bible, it's free & there is no pressure to join a church after (unless it's a very overenthusiastic & right wing church running it) and it's actually a nice social evening to have for a few weeks.

Which XF books do you still need? I think I still have mine in Ireland but I can't remember whether I had mom sell them or not...

Argh - don't know how to edit comments on the phone. Also just to say that it's best to find an Anglican church if you want to try the Alpha as other churches may have anti-homosexual elements which will give you the epic rage...

My aim isn't so much to learn about Christianity, the religion, per se, but the kinda...mythology and history behind it? In a more academic sense. Is that bad? You know me, I'm a Pullman girl, and I'm feeling that need to learn about creation and original sin and apocalypse and stuff. It interests me.

So yeah, not entirely sure a church group is where I want to be, but I will certainly look into the Alpha thing, thanks. I shall be very careful about any church I chose to go to, though.

I still need volumes 3, 4 and 5, which, just to be confusing, relate to seasons 4, 5 and 6. I don't think they did them for 8 and 9, unless I'm woefully mistaken. If you still have them I will happily buy them off you.

I wish I could take credit for it, but I totally stole it from someone else's list. I thought it was a good idea. Any suggestions for 96 for me dearest?

I may have a stupid moment, but I'm not sure what you mean with #96? A suggestion for what?

A suggestion for something you think I should achieve. Could be something silly or profound or fun, whatever. :)
