Inspired by a random Facebook posting of Vieh's: My top 10 score pieces. Because why not?
1) Chevaliers de Sangreal, Hans Zimmer, The Da Vinci Code
I'll start here because Vieh posting this piece of music made me go searching my 'scores' playlist on iTunes. Say what you like about the film, the book or Jesus having sex: this is so gorgeous.

2) The Surgery, Mark Snow, The X-Files: I Want to Believe
One day I might write a favourites list that doesn't include TXF somewhere. But probably not. I ADORE this piece of music, I think it's Mark Snow's best, and that's saying something. BTW, any negative comments about IWTB itself are not allowed in this journal. Because I said so. No, really. I get very upset.

3) Ice Dance, Danny Elfman, Edward Scissorhands
I loved this film as a kid (still do), and whenever it snows I hear this in my head.

4) Serenity Main Theme, David Newman, Serenity
SO MUCH amazing music in Serenity, but there is something so simple and pure about this

5) The Road Goes Ever On, part 1, Howard Shore, Lord of the Rings
The whole 3 movies have the most epic score, but this is probably the most famous (discounting 'I'm Taking The Hobbits to Isangard') and the most lovely.

8) Final Fight, Rob Duncan, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chosen
I know I have two from Buffy, but I could never choose between them. I listened to this non-stop when writing my dissertation chapter on, um, Buffy.

9) The Doctor's Theme (series 4), Murray Gold, Dr Who
A repeated theme throughout new!Who, but this is my fave by a mile. Big, swelling, orchastra epicness.

10) The Trip to DC, Mark Snow, X-Files
Out of all the Mark Snow stuff I could have chosen (Crater Hug, Scully's Theme, the FTF version of the theme to name a few) I chose this because it has such a mix: FTF music reworked for IWTB, which makes me happy, the gorgeous Mulder and Scully romance music, big dramatic tense stuff intermingled with the gorgeous sadness that makes XF so heart-renderingly amazing. Mark Snow, I do so adore you.
