Happy New Year!

Jan 03, 2010 20:30

As above. I saw the New Year in on top of a MOUNTAIN (a really steep hill, anyway) staring in amazement at the multitude of fireworks going off across Stockholm. Still in Sweden with angiescully and splodge04, and the past few days have involved a visit to an actual Swedish IKEA (this was very exciting to me), watching Avatar (AMAZING), a ridiculous amount of sleep, sliding down snow slopes on plastic bags and in general snow. Lots of snow. It's bloody freezing but so gorgeous here.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Travel round Europe by myself. Attend an XF con. Got a full time, permanant job. Watched my boy finally become World Champion.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

A few of them. Not enough. Must try harder in 2010.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No. Rubbish.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes.

5. What countries did you visit?
Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Sanity.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My birthday weekend with the dead dog (not funny and yet you must laugh) and the hysterical laughter. Easter weekend with the bonnets and general amazingness. The whole of October, going around Europe, but especially X-Con.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finding a job that I enjoy and that I may actually (*gasp*) be good at. And the Eurotrip.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Hundreds

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes illness. No real injury.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Train ticket around Europe. (Which I then lost. But still.) Also, I have been very very thankful to my £25 in sale snow boots the past few days.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My sister, who graduated and is now working on a Master's degree that I don't even understand, ffs. My boss, who has been amazing and understanding the past few weeks.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Hmmm. Can't really think of anyone specifically.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Europe, again, lol.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
X-Con. Meeting Mitch Pileggi. Europe. IKEA.

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
Sex on Fire by the Kings of Leon.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Mostly happier, I guess
ii. thinner or fatter? MUCH fatter. I have put on so much weight.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer. I actually earn money now.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Seeing my friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stressing out. Spending money on pointless things I then end up regretting.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Christmas just gone, I opened presents, ate dinner, went to work, came home and watched Dr Who. Christmas 2010? God Knows.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Only with fictional people.

22. How many one-night stands?
Oh, hundreds.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
The X-Files forever has the number 1 spot. Favourite show airing this year? I think Ten's death may actually have meant more to me than the end of BSG.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. I don't hate many people.

25. What was the best book you read?
Ummmmmm. I have read very little decent fiction this year, I have to say, so I'll do for non-fiction. Contented Dementia.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
La Cage Aux Folles. Totally counts.

27. What did you want and get?
A JOB. A new laptop. A wii and a wii fit.

28. What did you want and not get?
Loads of DVD's on my must own list. Stuff I'm not telling you nosy lot about.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
As Avatar came out last year, even though I saw it New Years Day 2010, does it count?

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Vieh killed my dog. :P No no, it was ok, the fangirls came up from London and we ate a load of junk food, drank a lot and had general fun timez. I was 23.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More money. Less insanity (of the bad kind).

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
I don't have a fashion concept. I'm all about the flowers and the hippy things atm though.

33. What kept you sane?
Joey. My fangirls, of which I love every single one of you.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Toss up between Jenson Button and David Tennant. Can I just have both? Oooh, a pause for that image please.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
The whole BNP thing and the fact that people I know think it's okay to vote for them. DO YOU NOT SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?!

36. Who did you miss?
Joey. My fangirls who do not live close enough to me, dammit.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Hmmmm. Jess and Becca are both awesome. Loads of people at work that I love.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
I learnt that I can do things I didn't think I could do.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
You can climb back up the mountain once again!
