Help? (Again!)

A while ago, someone posted (in the xfiles comm, I think) a brilliant meta discussion regarding Dean and Sam's mum in Supernatural, and Samantha in The X-Files having no autonomy and being nothing but symbols. I'm currently applying a similar theory to Lily in Harry Potter, and I really, really want to re-read it, but I forgot to add it to my memories at the time and now I can't find it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
