From the paper I'm submitting this evening:

"We ultimately discovered that Tomcat security enforcement, which is turned on by default in Debian, requires tighter software security than is currently supported by OpenMRS. The experimentation and research required to discover this incompatibility was by far the most time-consuming part of this process. If this is the true root cause of the failure, it represents a serious bug in OpenMRS; the level of system access required to get the software to work makes the system as a whole highly vulnerable to attack or malfunctioning software."

Furthermore, this "webapp" WON'T START unless it has write permissions to the directories containing its executable and its configuration files! HAHAHAHAno.
